Hey everyone!

We just got our NVC case#, and I'm starting to get curious what the current situation is in Amsterdam concerning appointments. How long is the average wait now before your interview? I'm hoping to be there mid-July!

Thanks!

It all depends on how fast the NVC sends out your visa package tot the Consulate and whether there are interview appointments available.

01/13/2016: I-129F filed  07/15/2016: K-1 visa in hand
10/13/2016: Filed AOS + EAD/AP.   07/07/2017: Permanent resident (Conditional)
04/16/2019: Filed ROC  11/17/2020: Approved. (10 yr GC)

Hellllooo everyone! We got our NOA2 last week ✨, now starting to prepare the consulate package. Can anyone who received their package 3 recently (@NL-SANDIEGO?) share what information was requested? Found this letter from 2015: https://photos.state.gov/libraries/netherlands/383034/amsterdamivdocuments/20150819_DSL1076K1.pdf - how much has changed since? I've seen no mention of tax returns / tax transcripts needed for the I-134 for our consulate, do we know if they are required? (Probably still including them anyways, just in case.)

yeah that's what I was wondering, if anyone has information if there's appointments available. As of today we're in transit!

I made my appointment on Tuesday and then there were appointments available on May 22th, 29th, June 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th. I couldn't book an appointment further away. However, I called on Monday to dr. Schulte and they gave me the first appointment on Monday 4th of June and were very happy that I didn't make an appointment at the Embassy before calling, since that caused other people problems. So, my advice is to pay the fee as soon as possible, then call the doctor for an appointment and then make the actual appointment.

Hee! Congrats on your NOA2!

Here a little overview of our process, I hope it helps you:

March 30th; received NOA2 with NVC casenumber, information that our package has been sent to the Embassy in Amsterdam and the request for me to fill out the DS-160.

April 2nd: filled out the DS-160 form and e-mailed the Embassy to ask if any further action was required (no reply every received).

May 8th; sent another e-mail to the embassy because I was getting nervous the process taking so long.

May 9th; response of the Embassy to our e-mail with package 3 (see below for the information included).

May 9th; posted the requested documents via regular post and also scanned them before and send them back via e-mail in a reply to the e-mail of the Embassy.

May 11th; received an e-mail back from the Embassy with package 4 (so apparently the e-mailed documents were processed).

May 11th; created an account online and paid the via application fee (€225,- via bank wire transfer). This fee has to be paid and processed before you are able to see the free appointment dates and schedule an appointment.

May 12th; received an e-mail that my application fee has been processed and confirmed.

May 14th; called dr. Schulte to make an appointment as soon as possible (June 4th). The assistant informed me it was very smart of me to first make the medical appointment before my interview appointment.

May 14th; checked with our lawyer in the US (we decided to get a lawyer since the I-134 is a bit more complicated, my fiance’s best friend being a joint sponsor) when I would receive the package with the I-134.

May 15th; scheduled the visa interview appointment for June 19th.

May 17th; received package 4 again (I guess they have received my documents via regular post this time, but I checked online and my appointment is still scheduled haha).

Thanks for the info and the heads up about the doctor! Kinda strange that you have to wait so long to go to a doctor, I hope they're not as backed up when it's my turn to go haha.

No problem.
Well.. Keep in mind there's only 1 doctor in the Netherlands having those appointments and then (for me) 3 weeks isn't that long waiting haha.

This is so helpful!

Out of curiosity though - did you get your NOA2 and case number at the same time, on March 30th? Any reason for that? (Normally, it takes about ~3-4 weeks from your NOA2 before you get anything from NVC, let alone it being forwarded to the consulate already as well.)

Good luck next month at your medical & interview!

No, I don't know why we received it the same day. On March 30th my fiance received 2 e-mails. The first one was that the NVC received our approved petition from the USCIS and forwarded it to the Embassy in Amsterdam, in this e-mail our NVC number and other IDs were stated with the request to fill out the DS-160. In the next e-mail it is stated that the Embassy 'approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application'. To be honest I didn't read too much of how the process went for other applicants, since there was nothing to do for us anyway. All you can do until the Package 3 is wait, and we made the choice not to get too nervous in between and patiently wait.

Thanks! Keep us updated about your process as well!

Thanks! That's very helpful. I think I'll get the HepA and B at my own doctor as soon as possible.

I also requested the vaccination records via the RIVM. However, this took me 2 months, including 10 calls to very confused but yet very kind workers from the RIVM. So for others; please request it in time haha! Maybe it's the location (South Limburg) that makes it very hard for institutions to contact me haha (waiting on my package 3 for 5/6 weeks and my vaccination records for 2 months)!

I'm from 1991, but on my vaccination records no Rota/Pneumococcal is present, I think I remember something about my mother not wanting to do it (sadly my mother has passed away and my father doesn't have more information than stated on the card). But maybe I'll wait to receive those at the medical if necessary, since they are diseases that are mainly for kids and I could still hope for an exemption.

Enjoy your honeymoon by the way!!

Maybe it's too late already but I wouldn't get any vaccinations from your doctor.
I've never had a Hep A or B vaccination (or influenza or rota for that matter) and I didn't need them.

At the medical I only got a DTP booster, so save yourself the money!

Posted (edited)

DTP booster costs more money at the medical than at your doc (I paid 10 euros for my DTP booster) and some people are even able to get it covered by their health insurance so I'd definitely recommend getting the DTP/MMR booster at your own doc.

Vaccines at your medical exam usually start at $35 and range to $50. I rather pay 10 euro.

I had my interview in Amsterdam yesterday and I got approved!!
I can't wait for my passport to be returned, I will be moving asap.

Congrats and thanks for your Amsterdam embassy review. My wife has her interview coming up soon. It was helpful to understand what it'd be like at the consulate.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the 2018 Waiting Games.

Thank you and no problem, good luck to your wife!

If your papers are all there and correct and you have a real relationship you have nothing to worry about :)
I was happy to find out all the staff were pleasant. I was expecting them to be more like the customs officers who, in my experience, have always been way more strict and grumpy even bordering on downright hostile, lol!
