I am married to USA  citizenfor more than 4 years , she petitioned for me and I got the unconditional 10 years green card and I now I am going to apply for citizenship. Is it a must for my wife to attend the naturalization interview or can I attend alone.?

Any response appreciated

no, your spouse doesn't enter with you

he or she can go with you, but they will be staying in the waiting room,

there is no obligation for your spouse to be there, it is your citizenship test

It is not mandatory but won't hurt anything either. I went to my interview with my spouse. She had an off day, didn't have to take time off work, also I applied for N400 while my ROC was still pending, my ROC was approved before the interview but since I didn't see any related past experience on this, I didn't know what to expect so I thought it would be good for her to be there just in case. For the interview, the officers come out to the waiting area to invite the applicants, my officer met my wife when she called my name, had a brief conversation but told her she won't be allowed to attend the interview. I think I only read about it at less crowded field offices, things could go very relaxed, they sometimes let spouses sit in during the interview but otherwise they won't be allowed. I also remember seeing a special case where the US citizen spouse was an attorney (don't think even an immigration attorney) but registered himself as the attorney for the applicant and sat in the interview. two birds one stone I guess.

I just converted a 10 year unconditional green card to citizenship after 12 years of marriage. Since my interview was at 7:30am in the morning, my spouse came along so we could go to breakfast at her favorite hole in the wall breakfast joint in downtown Los Angeles afterwards. She just sat in the waiting room however the IO must have noticed that we were together when he called my name in the waiting room as he mentioned that I should apologize to her in his behalf that my interview took so long (computer problems). Unless you need moral support, then there isn't any reason for your spouse to come along, the interview letter will probably ask you to bring their US birth certificate with you (or their naturalization certificate if they weren't born in the US).
