Hello Visa Journey Members:

I hope everyone is well.

It has been a long road to obtain the removal of conditions on my wife's green card. Last April (2016), we submitted the I-751 to remove the conditions for 10 years. We received an update in late November (2016) finally that it was approved and the card was to be delivered. We were ecstatic.

Long story short, the card never arrived to our mailbox. Distraught, upset, etc., the USCIS said they could do nothing for us. The postal service could do nothing for us besides giving me a letter indicating it could have been misplaced in another mailbox since we live in a multi unit apartment building.

We waited until early February (2017) hoping it would turn up or would be sent back to the USCIS office. It never arrived. We contacted our local congresswoman's office but they were not able to assist and informed us to submit the 1-90 form and payment once again.

Obviously, it was greatly disheartening and mind boggling that they do not provide tracking numbers, etc. I would gladly pay $200 to do so but it is not an option nor having it delivered to our local USCIS. We sent in the I-90 in early February (2017), saw shortly after that they cashed the check and my wife had her biometrics screening in early April (2017). For the past month plus, we have not had any updates.

Has this occurred to anyone else regarding the I-90 or having it lost/stolen? Do you know roughly when we should expect to receive the replacement card if we filed in February 2017 again for a replacement? It is frustrating since they approved her, indicated everything was sufficient and all is needed is the card! Trying to remain positive in a far too rigged and complex process. Thanks for your time and assistance in advance!

Hey Brian, our situation is similar to yours. My wife's Conditional PR card was mailed out on January 4 and arrived at our local PO on January 7 but was never delivered. Because USCIS had not sent us a tracking number and the message that they sent us said to wait 30 days before inquiring, by the time we called and got the tracking info, it was way too late. I'm pretty certain that my wife's card was stolen by a post office employee before it was even sorted into our mail because it was the beginning of the year, that guy who got elected president of the US was coming into office a few weeks later with his outlandish immigration stance so I'm sure someone saw an opportunity to make some quick money with my wife's GC. Like you we got no help from the PO and USCIS told us we had to file for a replacement card and pay the required fees. We submitted a new application online March 2  got a receipt immediately and two days later a biometrics appointment scheduled for March 22 which my wife attended. Now we wait. It is extremely frustrating that they haven't updated the page that shows the processing times. It currently shows July 11, 2016 as the last applications processed as of February 28. USCIS just rolled out a new card design on May 1 so hopefully that is the cause of the delay. Please update if you hear anything since you filed a little before us. I will post up here if we hear anything. Fingers crossed.

Hey:

Thanks for your message and very sorry to hear that you are also experiencing the same situation. We continue too wait. We get texts indicating no status update. We are now waiting six months for the replacement card. Has anyone heard or received a status update? Again, we sent the I-90 in early February. Crazy how long this process takes.

Thanks!

Really frustrating how slow the USCIS process all kind of application now. In 2015, my friend lost her green card and filed i-90 for replacement, took her only 2 months when she got her green card replacement.

Hello:

We have an update from my email above in May. My wife finally got an update saying the card was being produced on December 1st. We have been waiting since February 2017 to get a I-90 replacement green card . We are anxiously awaiting when the USCIS indicate it was actually mailed... We are hoping and praying that we receive the replacement green card this time since overall it has been 19 months total! Insane.

Does anyone know how long the screen changes to mailed after produced? I have seen anything from 7-14 business days or longer. To make things worse, we are leaving to go to Sweden to visit my wife's family and friends through January 1st. She has a temporary year stamp to travel for a year so hopefully that will be allowed to come back into the US since we will not be home. The best case is it arrives before we leave on December 15. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance,

Brian

I think mine, produced in late October, took about a week.

Hello Brian,

I am bit flummoxed why you paid for a card you did not receive. If the card did not turn up in the mail then you should not have paid that fee.  I would write a letter to the field office manager or USCIS or whomever outlining this and ask for a full refund. Not sure why your congresswomen would even suggest you pay another fee. I find it all very bizarre!  Read this link please as long as you did not move address without informing USCIS  you should be due a full refund.  https://support.citizenpath.com/hc/en-us/articles/208495576-I-never-received-my-green-card-in-the-mail-

It was bizarre. Neither the postal office or USCIS would take ownership of losing it. We were caught in the middle without a green card. The USCIS said on their end they sent it. Once it leaves their office it is on the postal office. The post office said it was not their fault and shows it was delievered. I spoke to many individuals and all said we had to repay and go through the process again. There was zero way either would pay. Faulty system at it's core. The best thing is we just received the replacement card last night ending this 19 month wait!

I would still write a formal complaint and they do have to respond to it. List everything that has happened and about no-one taking ownership and tell them you are not happy about paying the fee again when it is clearly not your fault. I would not stand down personally on this one it's just adding insult to injury.  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain if you think about it.  No idea why they dont send a tracking number with such official and pricey documentation/card. Any way glad you got your card finally
