Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Turkey

My husband had his passport updated in Turkey so it would be good for the 2 years the K-3 visa is good for, otherwise his passport would have expired before we have his CR-1/IR-1 interview. We showed the page that added the "extra" year to his original passport and the embassy was fine with the change made to it.

Hope you hear something soon from the embassy and your wife can come home soon.

Thanks for that info.

It's a slightly different situation, so whether the embassy will also look at it the same way is anyone's guess. The one email I sent with a question regarding it was never responded to, and then a few days ago, after trying to get a hold of Ankara by phone, I basically spent 90 minutes , after waking up at 3 in the morning, just "strengthening" my fingers.........

I dialed them non-stop, for 90 minutes straight...and never got hold of a single soul to answer my question.... after all that time and effort.

I do appreciate your input. It's always helpful to have people respond, who have gone through the same embassy. And, coincidentally, it was earlier this morning, that I reread one of your previous posts from a while back, and saw how you had contacted UPS in Turkey directly, to find out about the visa for your husband.

After reading that, I called my wife earlier today, and she phoned UPS. Unfortunately in our case...no luck...and no visa yet. However, it was not a total loss, in that my wife, when she did call, learned that the "tracking number" she was given when she mailed the package to the embassy Monday.....will also be used when the embassy sends something back to us.

So, in that sense, at least we did learn something new this morning, by calling UPS, that we didn't know before. We were both assuming that when the embassy sends something back to us, it would be with a different tracking number....and I hadn't even been bothering to check the UPS website.

With that new knowledge.......I have been to that website about 30-40 times today. UPS has their own separate website for Turkey, and I am hoping to eventually see something happening.

At least now we now know, that even if the embassy does not respond to my emails (a bad habit they seem to have  )....I might still find out some info ahead of time, by checking the UPS website.

Thanks for your response today.........and that one post you wrote a while back , which turned out to be quite helpful today.
