Pay the new fee or old?

Good afternoon,

 

I filed the I-485/I-130/Biometric package back in September. Sadly, I wrote 1 of the checks for $20 more than required. But they sent the whole package back, with cover letter to include when refiling.

 

Well, my daughter has been hospitalized a lot in the interim, and filing wasn't practical due to the stress, mental and financial. So filing now.

 

Opinion or accurate knowledge if I can still pay the old fee since I "Filed" in September? Or do I eat the $200 increase and pay the new? Since they are very picky, I fear either paying the old or new can have problems. Since they didn't even process the the I-482/Biometric that did have the check with correct amount. Maybe they will think I owe the new, and reject the old fee. Or that I already filed and owe the smaller fee but send the new fee :-)

 

Waiting for a call-back from USCIS now, but hope that someone lay have already went through this.

Your application was never entered in their system. You'll have to pay the new fee.

We are in the system, and I can look up status, as it says something about "More Info" or similar. I fear the new fee is the price, but want to make "sure" before I send anything in.

You are in the system due to your i-130 application. You can't look up any status on a i-485...because it's not registered. It isn't until you get the receipt notice (NOA1).
