unfortunately no , i'm so tired of it , our lawyer will inquire about it after few days , when we reach the 6 months of AP, hopefully they will wake up

It's been almost 7 months for me. Lawyers cannot do #######, and I already tried that several times and all that they said was the same thing: AP.

I even emailed them asking for my passport back .. all I got was I'm in AP. It's like I wasn't speaking clear enough English.

That is insane , why did you ask for your passport back ?

It's my passport, the correct question is why should they have it for this long in the first place? It's completely unprofessional. I'd like to be able to use it the moment I need to, and not wait some 2 weeks (like some similar experiences mentioned here on VJ) before I get it.

It is insane, and they cannot, legally, hold on to my passport If I don't want to. So if they intend to issue a visa .. they should do that already or return it.

Oh btw, since their approval, did you notice that CEAC no longer updates the status dates, no matter how many times you call NVC or email the embassy? It just never updates.

To VJ members: has anyone seen such a frozen CEAC status situation? and why is the status frozen like that?

Update here:

There is no real update on the case .. but I did get my passport back.

I tried to understand what's going on and I discovered the ugly truth..

The 4 months (120+ days), prior to the approval on March, the case was just shelved in (could be to test the solidarity of the relationship, some couples split during this period for real).

And only then, after they got our new medical and passports, they started the actual AP process: background checks, travel history checks (entry stamps found in passport for places you've visited/traveled to, etc.).

It's also the same procedure they follow when they approve someone during the interview: keep the passport, say you're in AP, and 4-6 months later .. bang ... stamp!

It is absolutely ridiculous ... because this means a total of 8+months in AP with an extra 4 months overhead for nothing.

how did you discover that ?

Let's just say that it's my own hypothesis or speculation for now.

It only makes sense. Think about it. They call you after 4+ months only to tell you you're approved (they could have done that right after the interview), send your passport, but 2+ more months later you're still in AP? It all adds up.

Passport is checked during AP for travel history and "places of interest", so unless they wanted to print the visa in it (which they didn't), they're checking the travel history to finish the AP, which has just started upon the alleged approval.

White male .. a bit bald .. kind of brown hair?

Window 15, the one inside a room-like? Usually people gone in there are pre-approved, you're the second one I heard of that was put on AP in there.

Having a long interview time could be an indication that he may wanted to find a reason to approve you.

Did your case have any red flags? age difference? different religious backgrounds? language barriers?

Did he take any evidence or paperwork from you?
