F-1 Visa Interview Financial Proofs query

Hi,

I have my F1 visa interview scheduled this month. While I am going on assistantship (confirmed  for one year at present) from the university, the letter came after I filled my i-20 where I indicated 'self' as my financial source of funding. In my visa application form, I wasnt sure what to fill as my financial source, Since I had filled 'self' in i-20 I did the same in my Visa form to match the entries inspite of the fact that a major part of my university expenses will be covered through assistantship. I have been wondering if this might create a problem during my visa interview stage since my source of financials is actually being borne majorly by the university for the first year, however for the second year since my assistantship will be subject to performance in the first year, I would be showing my bank documents as a financial source. Under these circumstances, I had indicated 'self' as the best possible bet. I need some more thoughts and experiences on this.

P.S. :- I have enough funds to meet expenses after including a one year assistantship.

Thank you.

Regards,

Nidhi

If majority of funds are from yourself, then you were right to select self.

If asked at interview about funds, mention you have funding from assistantship too and produce evidence alongside your bank statements proving your own funding.

Don't overthink and complicate it for yourself.
