How did you know it went to initial review?

My husband called uscis to update his date of birth as there was a mistake. They sent us an email on 8th June stating..

"There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.. receipt num: src**** ,, Application type: I130, petition for alien relative,,  Your case status: Initial review.

During this step, uscis initiates the background checks of applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation........

anyway, we r thinking they decided to start working on our case since they already had to dig it up anyway to correct the birth date error. I reallllyyyy hope so.

not that I want to cause an upset, but what they mean by recent action is the change in the birth date, once all cases are received and you get your first NOA paper that gives you the receipt number they are then put into initial review, as I was curious about this I called to check the status of my application as well and was told it was in initial review, as the tier 2 customer service told me that is the status they go into once the papers are received. I am setting at the Nebraska service center our case will take longer to process then yours.

Hopefully it will be completed for you soon, good luck.

Good luck! Let's hope it does not take too long. Did you mean 8 months until it is transferred to NVC? :) I hope you meant the whole process!

VERY Important!! Please read this post. Could save you 11 weeks!!

Hello, I know this is too early for you.. But after this long process you're going through, you'll have to start the NVC process.. Please open the following forum and bookmark it in your favorites (maybe create a bookmark folder called NVC).. Def want you to reference this when you reached the NVC stage of your processing..

I've created this because 1/3rd of our cases that are represented on our spreadsheet have received a checklist (it's like a RFE but for the NVC). Hopefully if you read this, it will reduce the chances of any of you from receiving one. Receiving a checklist can delay your case for 11 weeks (current processing time quoted by the NVC)..

Good luck to you all!! Hope the above will help you.

Hang in there. I know it's a long journey ahead..

Hey,

In the same place as everyone else. May 11 priority, Nebraska Center, processing from Israel. Wish we had just done adjustment of status in the US, like everyone else I know, and which a lawyer even recommended. But alas, here I am and it sucks. Looks like we will be here until March 2018 at this rate. whoopdeedoo.
