Good morning guys! I read online that the uscis will send a RFE if they see that you don't make enough money. That's when they'll ask for an affidavit.

USCIS won't send an RFE for that. After USCIS approves your petition it will be sent to the NVC. That's when you'll be required to fill out the I-864 which asks about income. If you make below the poverty line for the amount of people in your household then you'll need a joint sponsor. They will fill out an I-864 as well. You'll send all of that with supporting documents to the NVC. 😊

4-24-17 I-130 sent to Chicago Lock Box

4-25-17 NOA 1 & sent to TSC

11-15-17 NOA 2

That is strange! their instructions on the USCIS website says other wise. the following options mention that ONLY one is needed because it says OR at the last option given! :( right?

I am cutting and pasting what is on the website:

What documents do you need to show that you are a U.S. citizen?
A. A copy of your birth certificate, issued by a civil registrar, vital statistics office, or other civil authority showing that you were born in the United States;
B. A copy of your naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship issued by USCIS or the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS);
C. A copy of Form FS-240, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), issued by a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate;
D. A copy of your unexpired U.S. passport; or
E. An original statement from a U.S. consular officer verifying that you are a U.S. citizen with a valid passport. If you do not have any of the above documents and you were born in the United States, see the What if an official document is not available section of these Instructions.

I only submitted a copy of my US Passport, not my US Birth Certificate. My lawyer only wanted my passport.

Hey guys, few weeks ago, we got an RFE, dad and I decided to have a DNA to give  a heavy weigh to the additional documents we submitted. Two questions:

1. Anyone with an idea the total time this will take from start upto sending to Potomac service centre?

2. Since bonafides for parent-child relationship have been sent, Is it mandatory that they wait for DNA arrival before approving the petition since they normally say it's optional or there's possibility of  approving before the DNA gets to them?

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY

It depends on you. With the DNA evidence, you pay for everything. DNA will be collected from you and the company will send the DNA collection package to the U.S. Embassy in your father's country to be collected. Your dad will go to the embassy to do this. A friend of mine did this and the whole process took 6 weeks and the case was approved right away. For him the cost was worth it because it covered his whole family of 2 parents and 5 sibblings. All those applications were approved at the same time. USCIS will never ask you to provide DNA since you can turn around to sue them for the cost if they mandate it so they will always label it as optional but sometimes looking at your options they provide, DNA is your only choice but they won't tell you that.

There is a good chance they will ask for further evidence if your birth certificate was issued 2 years after your birth. Most evidence will be rejected. If you're sure your dad is your biological dad(No offence to your mom) then go for DNA.

Very grateful for your detailed feedback. I tracked the kit, it arrived today at the embassy, fingers crossed everything will go smoothly
