Boa sorte!

I have friend of mine. he got his wife's visa in 16 months. i am not sure which center his i 130 send was sent to.

Seems like you guys may not understand the process so I will educate you a little. 16 months is too long. The only way it will take that long is if the petitioner is not a United States citizen. Permanent Resident pertitioners must wait for a visa number once the I-130 is approved. The wait time is approximately 2 years but NVC willstart processing in about 1 year in so that your time will not delay.

When the petitioner is a United States citizen, there is no wait time for a visa number and the application is processed at NVC right away. So six months + about 12 weeks depending on how fast you submit your files and how accurate they are.

When Potomac started processing I-130s, applicants could get their spouse visa with 4 to 5 months as they too 6 weeks to process i-130. Now it takes 5 to 6 months so process at Potomac and so if you get all your ducks in the row, your spouse could be here within 9 to 10 months from your priority Date. But this is not the same for every service center. Centers like Nebraska are taking 10 to 13 months to process i-130 so add 3 months NVC and 2 months safety for errors and even Nebraska will be about 17 months which is out of processing time.

By the way. If your application is over 6 months and you have not heard from USCIS, you can get your senator pr congressman's help. You can also contact CIS ombudsman to escalate the case. Finally, if all fails, you can file a written of mandamus to force the government to make a decision. But not that writ of mandamus only force them to make a decision. It does not have to be favorable.

I hope this makes you guys feel better. Ask me any questions if you have one. I have been through the system so I understand quite a bit.

Yes  I agree it should not take longer but it is taking longer(not complaining that it is taking longer). For him it did took 16 months to get visa and he is US Citizen by born. For me, I am still waiting for my I 130 to get approved. I had it in my mind that it will take year and half for my wife to get visa.

I am hoping to get my I 130 approved by end of this year.

Thanks for the info though, i will contact senator or CIS ombudsman if i did not hear from them.

I somewhat knew some of the things you stated here but I must say that reading this gave me a peace of mind. You explained this very well. Thank you.
