It really depends on your field office. If judicial oath ceremonies are scheduled in a relatively high frequency (i.e. 4-6 times a month) then it shouldn't take longer than the usual time. Name change requests are taken during naturalization interview; and it can only be done during a judicial oath ceremony as opposed to administrative ceremonies.

Check your field office info within USCIS website for number of ceremonies per month it could give you bit of an idea how many and what type of oath ceremonies conducted in any given month.

Hope this helps-- good luck.

Thank you!

@Californian wife,

Google: USCIS field office locator. Enter zip code on website, then it'll show you field office that you're associated with which should match whatever on NOA notices you've been receiving from USCIS.

Once you found your field office, Google: naturalization oath ceremony "type in your field office location" US courts. This should take you to judicial oath ceremonies resources.

Let us know how it goes.

For the Santa Ana Field Office, it appears as though they perform the Oath Ceremony in the neighboring City of Anaheim.  The next Oath Ceremony listed is on February 22, 2018.  I guess the name change does stretch it out a bit further.  Thanks again!

Are there anyone with New York City field office (Manhattan) who filed in May 2017 still in line for interview?  I was in line in July and it has been no update.  I am getting nervous as holiday seasons are getting close and I will have extensive travel schedule from January next year.  Thank you.

@longtimeresident,

I found this publication

https://www.cacd.uscourts.gov/clerk-services/naturalization-ceremony-locations-and-schedule

that may or may not pertain to your USCIS service area.

I suggest you ask interviewing officer when will be the next judicial oath ceremony once you're done.

 I highly doubt that a busy field office has only 1 oath ceremony scheduled; though USCIS never ceases to surprise me.

I have my oath ceremony tomorrow and I am traveling to India on Nov 1st. I was hopeful reading some of the posts here that I would have the option of expediting my passport application and it shouldn't be an issue as I still have about 10 days. So today thought of making an appointment at the passport agency right after the ceremony tomorrow as @Mehrdad576 had done.

And guess what! The nearest passport agency is 6hr away either in Atlanta or Miami. I am in Jacksonville,FL. Now I need to make a trip to either of those within these 10 days to get my US passport :(

Anyways, I have a question. My Indian passport is still valid and will remain with me, correct? Can I travel to India using that? I mean I ll carry both passports but at the port of entry in India can show my Indian passport so that I don't have to apply for Indian Visa on my US passport? Is it valid? Any information in this regard will be helpful!

I think entering/leaving India on your India passport is fine. I think getting out of the USA may not be an issue but it was made very clear to me during my oath ceremony that they would not allow me back into the US without a US passport on my person, that I'd been travelling with.

Yes, that's where I found the oath ceremony information.  My field office is Santa Ana which is in Orange County.  The closest oath ceremony location is Anaheim which is also in Orange County.  The list shows only 1 oath ceremony date which is February 22nd.  The rest of the ceremonies are being held in the Los Angeles County area.  Thank you so much for checking!
