N-400 May 2017 Filers

Filing from San Francisco. Requested for name change in N-400. Read in the forums that name change for people filing from San Francisco and San Jose is impossible. 

How long does the procedure takes if I do the name change via court?

From the google docs, how are you guys getting a date for "In Line for Interview". I filed N-400 on 5/15 and my current status with USCIS site is "On May 30, 2017, we scheduled you for a fingerprint appointment and mailed you an appointment notice for Receipt Number..."

Well, once you have cleared the background check (after fingerprint), your online status will change to "In line for Interview" which usually means that your file has been sent to the local USCIS office. That is when your interview scheduling process begins and the time to actual interview will vary depending on how long you have already waited, how busy is your local office, etc. 

 

It seems like your case is still in background check phase.

Yes, we hope everyone on the board is doing well.Ruby is kind of the people, they are easy to get nervous and make others nervous too. I hope she can come back and join our great journey family.

Yes to this. I do this these forums can help some people but others aren't good at accepting that some people will just go slower than others and it makes their journey more stressful. I feel like I flip flop that I'm thrilled to see everyone move but I get so frustrated to be stuck at the same time. Good luck to her though. 

 

Congrats on the Oath letter @lovelyalex! 

I am still in line and Chicago is getting more and more backlogged. In the event that my FILs condition worsens more and we have to leave, can we give up our apartment without it looking like we abandoned our residency? Like we have bank accounts, jobs to return to and car lease payments but do we have to maintain a rent payment? I don't want to be screwed if we leave for a couple of months . In that case a friend will keep track of our mail and let us know when the interview happens

After waiting for 15 years to have my green card to come to the States, I became a patient guy. My mom and wife are waiting for my naturalization to be able to come here. I don't think my situation is better than you guys. God has a schedule for us. The delay could be a good thing, who knows.

@waitinggame16 - Are you waiting for Interview, mine is still in Biometric letter issued stage, not passed background check stage it seems. Real wait is still ahead. 3 months gone finger printing done.

Bios may 27, In line since July 3. Priority date 05.05

Hi Waitinggame16, I am from chicago too n INLINE since july 3, We are both in the same boat.

 

Do we need to take any step just to check where our file is ?? Infopass ??

Updating with my Oath date. On the backside of the letter, it requires to answer if I have left the USA between the interview and the Oath Ceremony
(which I did), and to provide documentation to support it. Do you think a printout of the flights will be enough? Copy of the passport stamp? What 
would you guys bring?

I would take both the passport (for admission stamps) and the ticket. Nothing else I can think of.

I was IN LINE since June 12 and no dates yet for interview. Been 3 months yesterday. I will wait again another month. If no good news still, that's the time I will send online case status update.  Patience....patience.....patience
