My fiancé dropped off the documents that the council asked for about 2 weeks ago and it was updated that same week he dropped it off , seems this passes week they didn't touch the case . How long does it usually take to get any news from the embassy ?

It was court papers of an incident that he had 3 years ago , how long would it take for them to determine if a case falls under the pettty of fence exception ?

As long as it takes. :P But to be a little more specific, probably a few weeks to a month or so. I don't want to get your hopes up in case it's not that, but it's probably closer to a few weeks to a month timeframe.

What happen was he had a petty theft case 3 years ago but since he didn't have any criminal record they extinguished the case and at first they were going to give him one year of community service then decided not to because he was working and going to school so they agreed for him to pay the equivalent of 40 dollars at the time in his currency for the damages of the incident . I know nothing is for sure at this time but I a new to all this and it's so frustrating 😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢

It's been over a month since my fiancé had his interview and due to a petty theft charge he had 3 years ago they requested for court records and kept his passport at the embassy . It's been 3 weeks since he took the paper work that was requested to the embassy and the case has not been updated since the week he turn in the paper work  . I am very stressed out because we have not heard anything and it's been many months since the last time we saw each other . I was wondering if it's too soon to contact the embassy and ask them about he case or would it be better if I go there to his Country and go to the embassy and check the status of the case personally but would it make any difference ? I am so desperate don't know what to do or have any idea of what the outcome could be. Them holding the case for this long could it be a good sign or a bad sign ?

You could contact the embassy but don't know if they will give you any specific information.

As to going there in person, again not sure if you will get any specific information either.

If his case is stuck in AP right now, it sounds like you will have to just wait it out.
