The Islamic State has urged its adherents to buy weapons from gun shows in the United States to take advantage of gun control laws.

“The acquisition of firearms can be very simple depending on one’s geographical location,” says a new piece in Rumiyah, ISIS's propaganda magazine, the Washington Post reports. “In most U.S. states, anything from a single-shot shotgun all the way up to a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle can be purchased at showrooms or through online sales — by way of private dealers — with no background checks, and without requiring either an ID or a gun license.”

“With approximately 5,000 gun shows taking place annually within the United States, the acquisition of firearms becomes a very easy matter," the article continues. A photo caption says, "Gun conventions represent an easier means of arming oneself for an attack.”

I'm sure ISIS is telling it's followers about how easy it is to get a car or truck and plow it through crowds of people in countries with gun bans. I'm sure they are also telling their followers how easy it is to obtain guns from the black market in those same countries. So what is your point?

By the way the article states that someone can purchase a gun online with no background check which is totally false. If you purchase a gun online it MUST be shipped to an FFL holder who does a background check on you before you get the gun. Some people need to get their facts straight.

Sadly these lies have been spread over and over to show how easy it is to get a firearm. Then the gun control crowd uses this to push for more gun control on us law abiding people.

When in reality most gun show dealers and even regular people won't sell to anyone the least bit sketchy because of stuff like that article.

I was on my way out the door to go to work earlier so I was in a hurry and missed the full magnitude of bs in this article when skimming through it. Let's break this down here. First of all every gun dealer is required by law to have an FFL (federal firearms licence). Anyone purchasing a firearm from a dealer MUST pass a background check before the transaction can be finalized. As I mentioned above to purchase a firearm online you must have it shipped to an FFL holder who must do a background check before you are allowed to take possession of the firearm. The Washington Compost gets it wrong yet again. I'm sure it was done intentionally to add to the gun grabber hysteria. The fear mongering is never ending with these people.

It is intentionally left out so that they can spout off the bs that it is very easy to buy a gun online and have it shipped to your house. This has been common the last couple years that they want to spread the fear in hopes of more control measures. When in reality it is very hard to buy a gun online unless you do it through a private party, then you have to meet up and either buy it there, or meet up at a FFL to do the exchange. But you can not just ship a gun through the mail to someone unless you like the ATF coming to your house.

https://www.atf.gov/questions-and-answers/qa/what-recordkeeping-procedures-should-be-followed-when-two-unlicensed

What recordkeeping procedures should be followed when two unlicensed individuals want to engage in a firearms transaction?

When a transaction takes place between unlicensed persons who reside in the same State, the GCA does not require any record keeping. An unlicensed person may sell a firearm to another unlicensed person in his or her State of residence and, similarly, an unlicensed person may buy a firearm from another unlicensed person who resides in the same State. It is not necessary under Federal law for a Federal firearms licensee (FFL) to assist in the sale or transfer when the buyer and seller are “same–State” residents.

There may be State or local laws or regulations that govern this type of transaction. Contact the office of your State Attorney General for information regarding any such requirements.

The article is talking about for profit firearms dealers. Not not a private individual selling their property to another individual. The article specifically used the word dealer.

And we know how criminals obey all gun laws. Crazy, isnt it, making laws to stop people who don't obey them.

Sad that this ####### is still published, not exactly difficult to find the truth.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

While your reading up on ATF regulations maybe you should read what is required to be a for profit lisenced firearms dealer. By the way an individual may be able to sell to another individual without a background check but they can be held legally responsible for selling to anyone who cannot posses a firearm. Also the original purchaser always goes through a background check and the firearm can be traced back to them if an illegal sale takes place.

And we know how criminals obey all gun laws. Crazy, isnt it, making laws to stop people who don't obey them.

I agree. Gun laws only prohibit law abiding citizens from owning firearms.

They sure make it difficult. Funny thing, the law abiding citizens will jump through all the hoops the laws require in order to exercise their constitutional rights. Criminals don't follow laws.

I think it's safe to say the Washington Compost lied to their readers yet again. I doubt the misinformation was  accidental. Anything to try to make people have an irrational fear of guns.

I, for one, am just glad to know only responsible people are allowed to get guns in this country. This article is BS, and I guess the gun violence in the news so much is just fake news as well.

Actually according to FBI statistics gun violence is declining overall. But that is not what the article is about. The article is about buying guns online and from dealers without a background check which is not possible. So yeah the article is a bunch of bs.
