Unless the I864 asks for it (we did I864EZ) you don't need a copy of the US passport. It's not a required document and we didn't send it and have CC.

Based on your response of not having yet submitted your I-864, and that you'll be living there until he immigrates, that puts your temporary residence in Uganda for the next 5-6+ months.  This means you should submit evidence that you intend in good faith to reestablish your domicile in the United States no later than the date of the intending immigrant's admission or adjustment of status.  This isn't a huge issue since it's not over a year, and yes, this creates a little bit of extra paperwork but better than having your travel history spot-checked and having to explain it at the interview.

I'm sure immigration officials can understand why a wife would want to reside with her husband temporarily until the visa process completes so it's not a red flag if you state you live overseas temporarily in a letter, but I'm not sure what to tell you.  Personally, I wouldn't take the chance since they I wouldn't want to risk a nasty surprise at the interview.

 

You could always provide a written letter with bank information/valid driver's license which shouldn't be too difficult:

Per the NVC:

• He/she left the United States for a limited and not indefinite period of time,

• He/she has evidence of continued ties to the United States.

If not submitted to NVC along with the Affidavit of Support form, the petitioner will need to provide the visa applicant with evidence of his or her domicile. The visa applicant will need to bring that evidence to the visa interview for the consular officer to review.

Looks good.  Just make sure you have the correct marriage/police certificates required for India.  Also, seems like you're the sole sponsor.  You probably should have filled out I-864EZ which was a lot simpler lol 

In addition, please make sure you update your VJ timeline so as to help the rest of the VJ community with similar timelines

I will go ahead and change my i-864 info to have my Ugandan address, then. I also feel that showing we live together is just further evidence of a bonafide relationship. 

 

So I am going to write a letter of proof of domicile and attach proof in the form of mail addressed to me, current driver's license, voter's registration card, bank letter, and all my pay stubs already have my address there. Oh, and car insurance.

You're very welcome!  Many others helped me and lord knows, it's been my saving grace from insanity during this process so glad to be able to share the knowledge!  Yes, living together definitely helps at the interview but unfortunately, not before you move over.

 

The following are easy to get and can also be strong evidence:

• Utility or car payments addressed to the US address
• Credit card bills to the US Address
• Bank confirmation of your name, accounts and address (if you've had them for a while, they should be able to include when it was first opened)

I'm sure they've seen many instances of this so don't fret too much.  The voter's card, driver's license, and voter's registration are all solid evidence.

 

Here's a sample from another VJ post that you can tweak and modify based on your case.  You can probably also include reference to the fact that your income taxes reflect the US address for the last x # years.

• Lease agreement for our house
• Email from schools regarding registration requirements
• Email from my former auto insurance company regarding my inquiry
• Email from XXXX with estimate and correspondence regarding shipping our belongings

I am the beneficiary from London. I got married in Florida so I have a US marriage certificate. My Indian police certificate was issued by Indian high commission in London. 

 

Yes my Mrs is the sole sponsor. I hope I-864 is ok as well ??

haha Happy belated!  My birthday was 6 days after.  I had to return to NY 3 or 4 days after the wedding so didn't get to spend it there but maybe this year will be different.  Can't believe how long this process takes.  We originally estimated 1-2 months for the NVC portion when we started.  Wish they had to pay interest on every day apart spouses had to spend.  That would definitely speed up their process!

Hi, you can follow March and April scan dates here. Someone with a scan date of March 20th just arrived in the review department.  Some have had their CC's in 8 weeks. Good luck to everyone!!

Hi All,

Our case was approved recently by USCIS, and I should have the NVC case number soon.

I'm trying to complete the I-864 at the moment. I live overseas with my husband, and plan to move with him, as soon as he gets the visa. I will be submitting all proof of re-establishing domicile (Driver's License, Bank Statementes, Voter registration, school letter, etc.), and also will be using a Joint Sponsor.

 

I have a question, on Part 4:

- In the Mailing address, I'm putting my US Address (My mom's house)

- In the physical address, I'm putting my overseas address.

- My question is on the "Country of Domicile" (Part 4 #5). I should put USA, correct?? I would appreciate your help with this question as soon as possible.
