Hi all, and thanks for posting and your good work over all @JBMG About this and related to the NVC checklist spreadsheet, I have a question to consider.

- Photocopy original birth certificate...

Isn't that what NVC asks for? The original has to be showed at the interview.  We're filing all photo copies to NVC, see their Supporting Documents page. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html  A check for conformity would prevent from further harm. And would provide better support for the applicants to return with reference to what they ask. Also in the spreadsheet. -- And this is just an obvious example. ---  Otherwise stated: Which checklist statements are conform?

Happens... Florence has a birth certificate with profiled stamp in full color :goofy: It might suggest it's not from an original. The stamp is on a white part and doesn't show.

Eeeek!

Did you get them one after another? What were they for, if I may ask (if you prefer not to give details, that is totally cool). :)

Yes I got them one after another.

The first one I don't know, I never get to ask my lawyer.

The second one they want passport photos of me and my husband and G325A.

I remember my lawyer did the G325A and my lawyer let me scanned my passport photo and email them to her. I never heard of that so I said to myself I guess they allow lawyer to sent scanned stuffs and mail them.

Yes, this is correct, you provide a copy and bring originals to the interview. :) But sometimes depending on your country, there are different types of birth certificates.. So some people send the wrong version in or they forgot to write their case number on the copy, and the NVC lost it..

So the question remains, what is the best way of submitting the correct documents, anyone know?

Thanks...

It's hard to  say what is best, amul. One opinion among many others about the best. It starts with following the rules though and supplying what they ask for. Next is, the officers following that same rules. If they check from other rules, they need to be made public. Manuals have to be shared. Paying for the application makes it a contract with a service. Would you agree with a contract and no rules to the services to be offered. Efficiency gets better with that approach. It's more like in Industry. They need to be certified before they offer a product.

More basically: We made all copies in color. I know, it's only suggestive, it's still the same thing you show a picture of. But it works... now and then. :) It could be concerning you or me, right? Without any rules you can make a nice presentation and make it easy for them to check.

So... a best way doesn't exist, we can only make it better.

Thank you, though I was trying to get an answer to @goobies' question. She sent in their IV and AOS and then realized that they might have supplied the incorrect version of a birth certificate. How to resubmit the correct birth certificate in a timely manner so that they are not wasting precious time? Is there a way of amending the documents with NVC *after* mailing the AOS or IV?

If you can, try to contact NVC @goobies -- I would not wait 11 weeks only to get a checklist, but that is just me. :clock:

@Florence & Jos Yeah, our entire front loaded USCIS file was in color and when I side loaded our RFE, I printed everything in color as well. ;) It took me weeks to go over things just to make sure I did not miss anything. There was a lot of printing and re-printing going on here.

She can send them in with a cover sheet and along with an explanation letter and it should be fine. I read a post about another member who was in the same situation, called the NVC and they told them to send it in, the only downside would be that they would reset her scan date (which was only a little bit over a week ago, so it's not too much of a delay)

Ha yes, I see. Sorry for that. I couldn't find where to send an extra, or replacement document. I would try the same address as sent in. And explain in a letter with reference to their tab order of documents. And of course with case references. I wouldn't count on a good result, but she can give it a try at least. Maybe some good mooded new secretary opens the envelope.

You can send the right birth certificate before you get a checklist and include a cover sheet and a letter explaining the situation. Your wait time will reset though, so it will be 9-11 weeks from when they get the correct document.

Oooor, you can wait for the checklist, then contact the NVC and ask to talk to the supervisor who is reviewing your documents and just ask to review it since it's one document. I saw in the April Filers thread that @mmaadd636 was in this situation and it all got sorted out when the supervisor called them. I'm not sure if this applies to everyone, maybe the supervisor was just being nice since they had already been at the nvc for quite a number of months at that time.

When's your original scan date? If you don't think you're gonna lose too much time since your original scan date, go ahead and send in it now.

Edit: okay, I just checked your scan date, it wasn't too long ago. Just send in the documents asap so you won't experience too much of a delay.

Sabrob,

Thanks for the reply. So do we only send the cover sheet, letter explaining the mishap, and the correct document? Or do we resubmit the entire package? I got an answer elsewhere from someone saying to resbmit everything. That really freaks me out!

Here is a post I found by someone who was in a similar situation. The NVC told them to only submit the correct document with the cover sheet and a note explaining the situation. Link to post:

Amul, thanks for trying to get us a good answer. We super appreciate it.

Sabrob, we didnt see your earlier post about how to send it until just now.

Thank you to everyone who offered advice. We are NOT waiting the 11 weeks. There is just a little delay here to get the new version. The official website says nothing about this, btw. It says the version we have is the correct one. We only found out from a friend who is getting ready to leave the country that there is a new type.

So please, check with people in your embassy specific threads and also ask people from your country what documents they used to get their visas.

Good luck everyone!

Whoah!! That would freak me out too if someone said to resubmit everything. Please let us know who that is so we can inform them that is not the case. My advice as posted earlier is to make sure you write your case number on each document you send in.. For example, if your birth certificate is more than 1 page, you put your case number on each page.. If you're sending a letter to explain your situation, you put your case number on it.. Each document you send in, you put your case number on it..
