My husband entered the United States on a K-1 visa and we have recently married and are filling out papers for the Adjustment of Status.  He is from Mexico and got his medical exam from the Clinic in Ciudad Juarez.  He does not have his immunization history and we understood he could receive all his required immunizations in the states and have it signed off by a Civil Surgeon.  I got a list of Civil Surgeons from the USCIS website and have not found a doctor willing to just complete Parts 2 and 5 of the I-693. They said they refuse to do it without doing the complete medical and filling out the entire I-693 and charging us hundreds of dollars.  The list of Civil Surgeons is a very outdated list and some of the doctors listed are no longer in practice.  We live in Phoenix.  Is there anyone here that has had a similar problem or that could tell us what to do?  Thank you!!

Actually having the same issue here. For me it's just that they have no idea what I'm talking about when I tell them the full medical was done in the UK and that we just need them to finish the vaccinations portion. All I found on this subject was in the instructions portion of the i-163.

3. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical examination overseas? If you were admitted as a:

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e);

or

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen;

and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission,

then:

(1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination;

and

(a) The panel physician did not find a class A medical condition during your overseas examination;

or

(b) The panel physician did find a class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility, and you have complied with the terms and conditions of the waiver.

(2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the Part 9. Vaccination Record completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you must submit Parts 1., 2., 3., 4., 6., and 9. of Form I-693.

The only thing I can think of is to bring the instructions with us to the medical, show them this part and hope they don't charge us for a full medical...

I found the same information on the I-693 and relayed it to the doctors but they insist they cannot do only a portion of the form and not the rest even though I told him he had his medical exam in another country. Obviously, these doctors are not well informed or don't care to research it - just get the money for the whole exam, send all the paperwork in for the medical and immunizations and totally get things screwed up and charge us hundreds of dollars to do it.  I called the USCIS and explained the problems to them and they had no answer except to make an appointment with the local office, which takes forever to get in and many technical problems trying to do it online and they won't provide a phone number.

I had the same problem, called up all the doctors in our area and they all told us they needed to to the full exam.  I was reading around the VJ posts and saw that a few K1 had found a few civil surgeons in their area willing just to sign off instead of doing the full blown exam but that was years ago.  I'm assuming and probably correct that the doctors are charging for the full exam just for a money grab.  It wouldn't make sense for them to charge over $25 for a signature.  We just gave up trying to find a doctor to sign off and did the exam.  The least expensive we found was a $275 in our area.  It was such a waste of time and money.

Nathan,  When you got full medical exam again (ughhh!!!) that would mean the USCIS actually received two reports on you.  Did that mess things up when you got your AOS?

I'm not sure but I think the consulate at your fiance home country gets the first medical report.  This report goes to USCIS specifically for the AOS.  In any case I just looked on the bright side, at least I won't get an RFE for a medical report.
