Thanks for sharing another weird story from Baltimore office. Was your IO an elderly man? I called USCIS after a month but you can try to request an SR.

I would say late 40's, it was African-American, very nice officer,I thought he was going to approve us on the spot, even though I've been reading it's common for Baltimore office to make you wait and review the case.

Omg this is terrible! I've been waiting forever...this gives me no hope. Sorry to hear about your situation. You should reach out to senator/congressman as I did...although they inquired on my behalf at least a week ago but I still have not received an update. So you're saying you were approved but GC never arrived?

Reading your case makes me feel desperate, sorry for such a long time waiting..but I have a feeling that I may need to wait just as long. Yes, my case is terrible. It was all smooth from the day it was filed.....until it was officially approved the second day after interview, then it was officially reopened the second day after approval. Then it is like a dead horse now.... lol, I have no idea...I did all I could since then, phone them, meet in Baltimore....no update, can't get anything from them. I feel like it becomes a mystery. My husband said it would be useless to contact congressman.

Hi everybody,

My spouse and I currently live in DC metro (local office is Baltimore) and are processing my AOS here. We would love to connect with other people in the area who are doing the same thing - either waiting for an update from AOS application, or if you have gotten your green card already :)

anyone from the area want to chat and share stories?

Thank you for starting this thread, congratulations for GC.

Hello everyone,

I would like to share my experience, i had my AOS interview on 07/19/17 in Baltimore. I am adjusting for J1 visa, have been married for almost 3 years and have two children together. We were scheduled at 8:30 am, when we got there my husband realized he forgot his driver license. After we passed the security we were waiting 5 min before my name was called. The officer was very friendly and polite. From the beginning he started joking. When  we set down he said he has been in my country and told my husband that he should go, it's beautiful. Then started talking about different things. Finaly he asked about our driver license and my passport, we told him my husband forgot his license but had the passport, he said he need a proof that he is a Maryland resident, so he handed his badge from work.  Then he asked how we met, he asked me my husband full name and date of birth, our children names and date of birth, what we are doing for living, he asked my husband when he became a citizen. We told him we recently moved and he wrote the new address on the application even i have already updated with USCIS. He asked me the yes/no questions, then started checking the application, he made a comment that we have been married for a while. My husband was married before, so he asked me for the divorce degree, he wanted to make sure he has the copy. We brought the children with us, he asked for extra copy of there birth certificates. He said everything looks good, he has no doubt. I had e binder full of evidence,he said he doesn't need them, my husband recently changed his job and I updated the I864 with the 2016 taxes, he said he doesn't need it, didn't ask for the new lease either. The interview lasted f20 min in total, the officer told us he needs to review the application one more time, didn't give as the paper that most of the people receive agter the interview was completed. He didn't say when should we expect decision, he said one more time everything looks good, the fact we have been married for almost three years and have children together was enough for him. My status changed the same morning, interview was completed and your case is under review, has been 2 weeks already and no updates at all. How long should I wait before i call USCIS?

I waited for almost three months, left them enough time to process. I thought their resource is tight so just be patient and wait, however, they told me to wait for another two to three months. But I don't think I will wait that long this time. So I would say you may just go ahead start to contact them....

thats terrible!

but you are already at this point so might as well just contact congressman and senator. also, when you phone USCIS, did you talk to a tier #2 support?

I agree with this. Have your USC spouse call the congressman for good measure. When I expedited my EAD, my husband wrote in and identified himself by his voter registration number. If your husband voted, it's always nice to throw that in there too! Even if it doesn't work - it's worth the try! And tier 2 does have more info available to them. Every time I've spoken to a tier 2, they've given me slightly more information than the tier 1 agent, and honestly, if I were you, I'd want information, no matter how small or unhelpful it is!

Became a citizen 6/2024. Now filing for my mother.

Yes, talked to three tier 2...yes my husband would contact congressman if I ask him to....although he never vote...maybe that is why he thinks it is useless lol....well, thanks for the advices. I am going to schedule another appointment with field office. To be honest I never felt like I need luck so much in my life....

guess what i just found in the mail :D my green card! hooray this is only less than a week from when my status changed to "card was mailed to me". impressive for baltimore lol

i'm a december 2016 filer and somehow my application got processed totally within the normal timeframe and no drama so that's really a lot of luck! ive only had to contact congressman for my EAD and they were as helpful as finding me the USPS tracking number for it.

now time to get a new social security and renew my drivers license. well hello MVA :(

i will definitely still stick around in the forum and contribute as much as i can because i've learned so much from everybody here throughout my process!! best of luck to you guys :)
