July 13, 2017 we is our file date for EAD/Travel Docs

July 17, 2017 for AOS

Don't know why they have different dates because we sent them in at the same time.

I spoke to a lawyer and unless it's been 90 days a service request doesn't usually work,

my EAD file date is July 19th 9 weeks so far for me

Wow so you've been waiting since October for the EAD, or do you have that and currently waiting for the interview

AOS, EAD was issued in December and we're renewing now :)

Seems like that's the norm in Baltimore almost a year for the GC, all I want is the EAD,, the AOS I'm currently not to fussed about

yea, i was really impressed with the timing ?? i figured we would be waiting into the top of 2018! nothing is super weird with our case i suppose, no divorces or convictions whatsoever..we are young (usc me 23 & aus husband 26) but my parents more than satisfy sponsorship requirements and we totally had enough proof cuz we are definitely soulmates lol. i am still very impressed i was able to navigate this process all on my own (with vj help of course) without any rfes or attorneys or anything ! i feel like it was an accomplishment i could list on my resume! hahha

Congrats. I wonder if they might be moving up the case. Someone on one of my other forums I follow on VJ said they are looking to putting a stop to AOS from a tourist visa in 2018  even with Marriage (you said in your first post that you are transitioning from a tourist visa) Maybe they are pushing you through because of that rule change.

Interesting read that article, I always thought you couldn't do an AOS on a Esta,

question, how do you know if you have passed the background checks, do they tell you or just wait for a letter.

fingerprints were 5 weeks ago, should I have heard anything by now

I thought the same thing about the tourist visa.

We would have saved 2,000 dollars in visa fees, a trip to Sydney, Australia (not that I am complaining it was another great visit with my now husband) for an in person interview, and one year of paper work and processing for the K1 visa to get permission to marry in the US as a government approved couple. Hahaha. And now we get to do it all again but this time with marriage pictures and videos. Hahaha. (These are laughs of hysteria because it just never ends and so inefficient).

Background checks: I would assume its the same at the K1 process, no news is good news. I would think you might know if you have a record prior to going for finger prints and federal background check. We haven't had any issues in the past so I am not sure what would happen if something came up on a background check. From the K1 forums it sounds like RFEs for more information about things that popped up.

How long did the K1 take, a friend in England is currently going through it.

Backround checks I just wanted to know if I should of heard, I have had 5 years of work visas and I currently work at a College so that wouldn't be an issue, just didn't know the next steps
