More I-864 Questions...

Hey guys,

1. My mom is joint sponsoring my wife. And I, with only a part time job, am the other joint sponsor. Should we just be combined on the I-864 or submit 2 of them?

2. When it says " I ___________ am the sponsor submitting this affidavit of support because (Check only one box):" What box should my mother check? (I know I check the first one).

3. Can anyone explain Part 3 to me?

You are the primary sponsor because you are the USC petitioner spouse and you fill out I-864. Your mother can be a member of your household who has agreed to make her income available for the support of the immigrant, if you and your mother live in the same house. In that case she fills out I-864A, contract between sponsor and household member.

If you do not live in the same house as your mother, then she is a joint sponsor and she fills out a separate I-864.

Minor point of clarification: I-864A is filled out jointly by the Sponsor and Household Member, not by the Household Member alone.

The Household Members financial information is shown along with the Sponsor's information on the Sponsor's I-864.
