I had attended my Visa interview on March 23th and I was given a 221g white slip.

I check the status online and it was last updated today 3 may 2017 but it still says "Administrative Processing".

So, can someone please tell me what it means that the last update date change from the date of the interview to today is it positive sign?

What did the white slip say? Did u need to provide more documents?(could just mean AP)..since updated It shows that they looked at ur case. Yes that is a good sign! Just keep positive.  Also remember. . AP can take days, weeks, months or even years! Hopefully you will hear something soon.

You are fine, you were not refused they are just asking for extra evidence (the tax docs)

Did they ask for the 2016 tax transcript from IRS? or just the return? form 1040?

Form 1040

Form 1040

Did you give them everythingm w2s? Schedules? Etc? If you just gave them the 1040 thats not the entire rax return.

Any updates!!!!

I am in the same situation. I had my interview on March 27th, 2017 for K1 Visa at US embassy Islamabad in Pakistan. Everything went fine at the interview. The CO didn't ask for any additional documents but at the end of the interview she told me that our case need further processing. She gave me a 221(g) white slip with box checked in front of Administrative processing and a hand written case number on top. Since then my case status updated once on April 03, 2017. But the Status is the same "Ready". Isn't it suppose to be showing "Administrative Processing". Its now over 6 weeks and no update yet.

Form 1040

Form 1040 is not a tax return.

So what ?

So you gave them the wrong item. Did they accept it?

They may give you another RFE for the tax transcripts  (not 1040).

If they accept the 1040 then so be it. But if not, be prepared to send the correct documents. Just a heads up.

Please do not confuse OP with your information.

A form 1040 is not a return, but if given to the embassy with all schedules and w2s as sent to the IRS it then serves as a proof of filing and can be threfore used instead of a transcript.

Taxes are filed in April, if filled manually and sent to IRS on time, it takes up tp 8 weeks for a transcript to become available, when an interview is conducted in between Feb and June of the same year, usually no transcripts are available so people use the 1040 and schedules as proof and it is totally fine. ++ If it wasn't the case, you will have all IV and V immigrant applicants put on AP for that which doesn't make sense.

A 1040 and W2s are not 100 percent proof of filing. You can have a W2 and a completed 1040 in your possession. That does NOT mean it was mailed to the IRS.

However, a completed 1040 with a W2 can confirm the amounts the person was paid for the year and can be sufficient evidence of income. But again, it does NOT prove that the person sent those documents to the IRS. A transcript from the IRS or a filing receipt from TurboTax or other software can show that it was filed.

There was a thread a few weeks ago where a poster made the same mistake. they only sent in a completed 1040 form with no W2's or other supporting documents. And she received and RFE. When i have time I will post the link to the thread.

To the OP. if they did, indeed only asked for a completed 1040, then you should be OK. But like I mentioned it may be possible that they could ask for more.

The 221g states that they want the federal income tax return for 2015 or 2016

so i sent the 1040 and the schedules and 8867 form and 8965 forms about 13 pages
