Hello,

I plan to apply for my husband's spouse visa through direct consular filing.  One of the documents required is my foreign ID that show I live there (we are in Korea) so we can apply through Direct Consular Filing.  I recently got Korean citizenship and no longer have a foreign ID.  If I show my Korean passport, will it work? Should the names on my Korean and American passports match (I was considering changing the US one to my married name but now I'm thinking it may complicate things to have different last names). Will I have any issues obtaining the visa for my husband because I have dual citizenship? I was told by the US embassy here the US allows dual citizenship but some people are telling me it may be an issue.

Your Korean passport is your proof of legal residence and id in one. You will not have any problems because of dual citizenship.

The passport is proof of the legal right to reside in a country...it is not proof of actual residence.  But, assuming you have other evidence of resdience, such as something with your address, bank records, medical records, or somethIng sImilar, you should have no problem.  Dual citizenship does not complicate anythIng.
