They check your ID and visa to the country of destination. The airlines don't check your immigration status. Not in the US at least. There is no USCIS passport control on the way out.

So in other words you can't board a plane out of this country without a passport

How will an illegal leave the country (legally)

You would have to ask why they only made an issue of it this year. The band has been travelling to B.C. for the last 18 years, are they saying now that they have been enabling the coming and going of illegals to this event all this time?

Are the parents of the "legal" kids not going to complain that their child is being deprived of foreign trips?

Probably terrible parents who don't mind the public school system raising their children.

If the illegal kids manage to make it to Canada for the trip they could always get some pointers from their parents on how to sneak back in the illegal way

While I haven't crossed illegally (we primarily take our hybrid SUV for trips across the border), much of the border is completely unguarded, especially in BC and the prairies. They'd find it remarkably easy.. surprised the nutty leftist teachers haven't educated them about how to cross like this.

Before usics comes up again, I did say leave the country legally.

You have a hybrid SUV ?

I will also point out that border crossing between the US and Canada on the ground is drastically different than the air. Kids tend to only need a birth certificate and parental permission (obviously not if both parents are present). Before we got our daughter a passport (haven't yet got her US citizenship that she's owed) she used to cross on the ground with her long form BC.

Hell yes, the mileage kicks ###. Only time the electric engine doesn't kick in is when its like -20C and below (due to constant running the heater/defroster) and ofc freeway driving. Even so with the latter, there's still the electric assist which still saves on mileage.

Maybe that's all the documentation they needed previously to bring the kids on trips to Canada but it's a little risky to chance it now. Wonder how were they planning to get them to Osaka and back?
