What's next after NOA2? 2017

Does anyone know how long normally stays at the nvc after they assigned the case number and before it ships to the embassy? I saw that normally it takes just a couple of days after people get the number but I'm not totally sure!

I keep calling that number and end up getting what sounds like random chirps and printer noises from a fax machine. Are their lines down right now?

I called yesterday after a long hold the operater picked up so I'd said NVC line is still working.

i havent got my case yet tho. Maybe we can call back by the end of this week. Seems like its 3 week frame after NOA 2.

Ah, When did you get approved? I got approved on the 26th of April. Surprisingly as there were people who filed a bit before me and still didn't get theirs yet.

Thats true  I knew one guy had waited exactly 6 weeks to get a case assigned. But case only stayed at NVC for bout 1 week then transferred to US Embassy which was a good thing!!

Someone with NOA 2 on April 17th just got their case received and assigned couple days ago. Our cases with NOA 2 on 26th,27th will be there SOON!! (I pray)

Dude that's wicked. One day after me! Yeah, It's funny how they do things. The approval letter states that you'd receive a second letter with the Case# approximately 30 days later; but from what I've seen, the approved petition may end up at the US Embassy where the fiance(e) is located way before then. 

I also hear that often times most people don't even get that letter; just the case number is all you need. But anyway, good luck to you too friend. This is quite the wild ride we're on. haha.

Hahaha thankss! Good luck to you too. The ride is so wild. If i didnt get the NOA 2 on that week, i would have turned insane. Last week and this week result was so strange. The USCIS sent most RFE or touched lil cases =_=

Anw, keep update with your case then!! Call NvC toll number, shortcut 1 then 7!!

Once you get your case number you can check the status here https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

 

The earliest status you can see there is "at NVC", simply meaning NVC has your case and still hasn't sent it to the embassy. The next status would be "in transit" and then "ready". Ready means that the embassy has received your case.

Would it be a good idea to wait until it says "Ready" before filling out form DS-160 (paying the fees and stuff.) 

 

I'm at the "at NVC" stage. They just gave me a case number two days ago. Lol

It's country specific. In Sweden it's perfectly fine to do it like that, in certain other countries they want you to wait until the embassy contacts you. You could ask in the regional forums, ask people who have gone through the process in your specific country.

The DS-160 doesn't require a case number so you can fill that out at any point now, however, I wouldn't submit it until I know whether that particular embassy wants it already or if they want you to wait for a response from them first. I personally waited to submit my DS-160 until the status said "ready" as that's when I knew the embassy has received my case. That doesn't work for all embassies, that might be too early for some.

 

Same goes for the medical. I booked my appointment before I even had the case number, while in other countries they require you to have that number before you can schedule an appointment. 

Okay I get that. Cool. 

 

I checked the electronic center website and it says our petition is ready at the embassy at this time. Will it be a week or so that they'll be sending my Fiance her checklist of things to get? Aka packet 3? She's in Greece btw.
