Ok, so my fiancé was supposed to return her I-94 before April 19th and she still has it. According to the processing times page on here they just now got to our form (we're awaiting NOA 2) and I'm freaking out. Does anyone know if this will adversely affect us? The good news is she came in on the ground and although she forgot to return her I-94, she entered and exited later via commercial airliner, so her lost recent I-94 (the electronic ones they enter for air entry) reflects she came and went. Does that supersede her forgotten one or does she need to return it ASAP (she lives a few hours from the border). Called USCIS, they said call CBP, but every number on the CBP site is broken. I emailed, but they said it could be 5 business days before I hear back.

Thank you.

I had the same situation a few years ago. There's no real need to return it - the subsequent plane trip will have updated the system to show that she left the country. If you're worried, though, CBP has a page detailing how to return I-94. https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/752/~/i-still-have-my-i-94
