Since your wife, and mine just got here relatively speaking, it's not too surprising that this issue would mean much to them. Again, using oriental as a slight goes quite a way back.

I never went to a McDonald while in Paris, but I'm curious if they are call French fries there. Are French people offended?

I wouldn't see the connection personally from potatoes/starches to French people. Most French people I know (From France) are ridiculously thin. I specify France because I see quite a lot of fat people in Quebec., though generally the guys. The chicks are pretty hot.

 

Anyways, the only country I've ever actually liked McDonalds food is in Canada. It's mainly the way they grill it and the seasoning they add that makes it a little more palatable. Their smoothies aren't bad (you can see they add actual fruit) but as typical with fruit it's just way too much sugar to have more often than once in a blue moon. In the US the burgers taste like ####### at McDonalds (like it's something alien), while in Germany and the UK the McDonalds burgers taste soggy like they pulled it from a freezer and tossed it into a microwave. That's why generally I prefer burgers from my own grill first and foremost (I still like charcoal bbq flavor), or distinguished burger joints like In N Out, Five Guys, Johnny Rockets, and local steakhouses.
