AOS, marriage license and change of name

My fiancee and I got married a week ago. She came in the state with the K1 visa,  We re about to file for AOS, EAD and AP.   I would like to ask: Should I send the marriage license along with the AOS and other documents ? 

Also what is the process for changing her name as she will carry my name ?

You have to send a copy of the certified marriage certificate along with the AOS application.

She applies for AOS, EAD and AP in her new name since the marriage certificate proofs that you are married and that she's allowed to apply for those documents with her new last name.

Sorry to intrude, but that was something I was wondering about. The way you say it seems like your name changes automatically just getting married, but I assume that's only if you sign with the married name.

 

Asking because I don't have the intention of changing mine for multiple cultural, family and practical reasons. Thank you

Under state laws, a married person can take the other spouse's last name.  Nothing needs to be done except getting married.  There is no obligation that the person takes the other spouse's last name, it's an option.

 

Google "change name marriage + (your state)."

Thank you all for your answers. We will file the AOS with her married name.

Another question: will she receive her SSN ( Social security number/card) when she gets her Green card, or should she apply for her SSN separately?

She can apply for the GC after you got married.

Documents are: her passport, marriage certificate, I-94 and birth certificate

Note: She might cannot get the SS card in her new name. That means you have to wait until she gets her EAD and then she can go back to the Social Security Office and get the last name changed. I went back there with my NOA1 because I didn't want to wait so long. I was stubborn. I was able to get the name changed on the card with the NOA1.

You can either fill out the application at home, print it out and take it with you or fill out the application form at the Social Security Office.
