Proof of intent of marriage

Me and my overseas fiancé are trying to get proof of intent to marry, and we're wondering if we can register in advance the licence or at least get a booking for it so we can get the proof for our fiancé visa petition. We have the engagement ring, and we will be having two wedding ceremonies, one in South Korea and one in Romania, but due to my work I can't travel at the moment so we cannot actually book anything. If we book, for example in Romania and we get approved early or later we will lose the money for the advance. Our parents live outside US, so we were thinking to do the courthouse ceremony with friends as witnesses. Any advice if maybe we can book the registration of the marriage licence as a proof?

You just write each an "intent to marry" that you sign. There are examples on VJ if you use the search tool. That's all the evidence you need for that particular point. Of course you need other evidence of meeting within 2 years etc.

Yeah, don't overthink that point.  

 

A simple letter, dated, and stating that you intend to marry your fiancé within 90 of arrival in the US and that you're free to legally do so will suffice.  Doesn't have to

be fancy. (Literally use the same letter for your fiancé, just switching out names etc)

 

You can also just update the date on the letter when it comes time for the Embassy interview.  (Will need to be dated within 30 days to show the USC still intends to

marry the beneficiary.)

Thank you all for replies. I just wanted to make sure we have all in order. We have all other proof for meeting over 2 years.

Another bit of advice to go along what others have said.  I've read accounts of many VJ members that set their wedding date, booked their weddings, gave the security deposit for the venue, bought airline tickets, reserved hotels, and invited family - Planning everything based on the VJ timeline when they should "expect" to receive their Visa.  Only to be blindsided and disappointed by a longer Visa process then they expected.  

My fiance received her Visa in hand 5 months and 2 weeks from mailing in our I-129F petition.  Some VJ members have waited 10+ months before getting their Visa in hand.  Don't rely on the VJ timeframe.

Get your K1 Visa in hand first, then start making definitive plans!
