Hi everyone,

We received a RFE recently. We saw at the case status online that they will be sending one. The letter with the actual request took more than a week to reach us.

We sent the reply 2 days later, on April 24th. I have been checking the case status and it just changed today to acknowledge that yesterday they received what we sent.

That is to say that yes, the case status should change.

As if they may send more than one RFE, I'm sure they can. But I hope they don't!!

Good luck to everybody!

May I ask what your RFE was? I just checked our status yesterday and we got one but I can't imagine what it could be.

Hi Hannah,

Sure, no big deal.

In our case, my fiance printed the passport photos at home and apparently they were not the right size. I guess he hasn't had to deal with visa issues before, and he is not as vigilant as I am.

He got a new photo taken at Walgreens. I took a new one at a local store and sent the file so he could print it at Walgreens too. He sent them back in the envelope they provide and filled the form attached to it. Apparently, you have to send it in that one, no way to expedite the delivery (that's what we were told, not 100% sure of this).

I'm hoping that's all it is. I'll update whenever we know.

So, if your evidence is strong, it could be any kind of little mistake that you had not notice.

Yes it is Hard but I know patients is key all I'm waiting for is the approval or another RFE if they request more info. They already received the one I sent them. Another question and sorry to bug you I have read that after you sent in a RFE that was received They usually send a response within 2 weeks from when they received.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I got a RFE as well with USCIS and I sent everything in the following day and it pushed my case back a month.  I think USCIS is the hardest part of this, I'm at the NVC office now and so far everything has been moving along pretty well.  Wish you the best of luck with your case, just hang in there and hopefully we'll be at NVC soon.

I will share mine with you mine was for two passport size photos of me the Petioner  that's all they asked for. But RFE's can be for multiple things they request if you missed anything in your packet you sent in.

I wish it was something like that but we hired a lawyer to avoid a RFE and now .. this is so frustrating.

This has happened before. I sucks, I know, but apparently, not even a lawyer can assure you 100% that you won't receive any RFEs. That being said, though, RFEs can also be a bit random. For instance, I realized that we forgot to tick a box in our petition a couple of weeks after sending it in, and when our USCIS status changed to RFE, I was certain it was going to be about this box (have you ever filed a petition for anyone before). However, no word about it. Instead, they wanted more evidence that we fulfilled the two year meeting requirement, which we submitted, and two weeks later, we had our approval. Another person, however, may receive a RFE just for forgetting to tick this very box, while yet another person with the same amount of evidence regarding the two year meeting requirement we originally submitted may be fine from the get-go. It's a bit like playing the lottery.

I really understand that you're upset about your RFE, especially after having gotten (and paid for!) a lawyer. I hope for you it is an easy fix that will lead to approval in no time. Good luck to you and everybody else!!

We just received our second RFE. There were three small problems with the first RFE and with this new one we have two more problems to fix. So yes you can receive more than one and they seem to clump the problems into little groups.

I was wondering if anyone has ever received more than two RFE's?I have looking on the visajourney site but I have not seen any posts about more than two. Two is already bad enough I just don't want to receive a third one in another three months. :(

Thank you so much. I'm already scared about this whole process and don't even know why. We are a real couple and just want to start our lives together. I really thought we get an approval and I could be with him in July .. now it will be August I guess. Just hoping that we'll get the letter soon where it says what they need from us.

Wow that's crazy same here I was looking to see if anyone has gotten more then one and I see you have. But someone did tell me it depends who is reviewing your case sometimes they may miss a piece of information that was not provided and the next person to review your case catches it and causing the break up into lil groups  and second RFE notice. I have not yet received another RFE hope not to but if I do I will be sending it again

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
