your status is extended 1 year from the expiry date of your current GC not on the date of your extension letter.

Yes my GC will expire on aug 5,2018 to be exact after receivibg the extension letter that i filed last may5, 2017. I just wondering if it eill come to the point that i have to go for the stamp for another extension while waiting for the greencard.

Just wanted to post an update.

I am CSC and my extension letter will expire on June 2018 so today I went to my local USCIS and got my I-551 stamp (valid for one year). They didn't give me any problems because I went so in advance. I think they know how late they are.

If you're a CSC filer than you would probably need it but if VSC I dont think so given the processing time for VSC.

also I was going to include joint bank account statements from several months but seems like the website doesnt allowed me to upload more docs. Have you ran into any issue like that?

You guys opt to not attach any evidences, the IO officer will gonna ask those evidences on the day of your interview for N-400 so I would suggest not to waste your time doing it.

The evidences that is required to attach would be the copy of your green card or NOA1 and CR green card if the I-751 is still in process.

Thank you Lemon23! I was hoping you had any input. You always know what to do ;).

Can I bother you with another question? Where do we get the cR green card?

thanks again!

CR means Conditional Resident Green Card which is your 2 years actual green card.  you dont have to explain since they know that your I-751 is still in process.:)

Hi everyone! As for my case - I am planning to file for N400 in approximately 2 weeks! I already created an online draft as I am planning to file online and it is not difficult. By reading through different threads I came to the following conclusions: 1) It is better to file online for N400 as the case is received and processed faster ; 2)judging by other people’s experience there will be a high chance of combined I751/N400 interview , which is ok with me 3) cases get transferred from CSC ( “escaping” from CSC is the best part , that starts to speed everything up!) and things start to move! 4) The  times for N400 are not displayed very accurately in my opinion.  Right now without filing for N400 as a CSC filer I am realistically looking at November/December for I-751 😑 and then another half a year or year for N400. My estimation is that filing for N-400 will resolve everything much sooner, earlier then the end of the year with no 10-year GC, but Passport in your hand.

Just to add to this.  We filed N400 online at the end of March, 10 days later we got notice (written and online) that my wife's I-751 had been transferred from CSC to NBC (Lee's Summit, MO).  Yesterday she completed her Biometrics for N400 and case updated to Case in Review 5 min after we left the Federal building.

Ugh

Drove an  1 hour 40 minutes up to our local office for an infopass appointment to get a stamp in my husband's passport. There's a nationwide system shutdown! How frustrating! Our officer told us we could wait until after the lunch hour and check back in and they would let us try first stamp if the computers are back up.

My husband is with CSC. Had a nice conversation with the officer at the window just to make it so our trip wasn't a bust. We asked about the processing times and he said unfortunately CSC is slow. VSC doesn't have as much work and that's why they are moving much more quickly.

We discussed with him about the case File transferred to local office situations. He also confirmed that each time a file is touched, it has to be scanned in or hand injured in by the officer that touched it, looked at it, or even passed it on to another officer. It doesn't mean that it's been transferred to the local office. Impression I got from him that it wasn't a big deal.

I discussed if it's a good idea to apply for N100 before receiving ROC. He gave a strong indication that it was a very good idea to do so. Specifically for our office, Portland, Oregon, it'll move much faster ( currently facing turnaround time about 6 months). Looks like we're going to get hot on that!

Hope nobody else got stuck the infopass system-wide computer shut down!

Hi All,

is anyone thinking about applying for citizenship early this month?

I am almost ready... maybe will hit the button tomorrow.

My husband is eligible to apply for his N400 tomorrow.  We're CSC filers here, so we've decided to go ahead and do it now instead of waiting for the 10-year green card.  This wait is ridiculous.  Our hiccup: Last week we received a letter from the IRS stating we didn't do our 2016 taxes correctly and now owe $2000+.  This turned out to be an error with his company (verified by the company), but one question they ask is "do you owe taxes to the IRS?"  UGH.  We know we don't, but are debating on waiting to finish the N400 application until all that is resolved.  The response to the IRS was sent back to them today, so hopefully, it won't take long to resolve.  Thoughts on this?  Wait, or continue, knowing the mess up was not ours, and we don't actually owe that money?

On another note, my stepson will be in England (again) for the summer, and his extension to his green card, like my husband's, expires August 1st.  We've told his mother he MUST be back to the US by July 31st.  We'd love to get the stamp in his passport, but he will be leaving June 13th.  Advice on that?

And one more thing: once my husband becomes a citizen, can he then file for his son? Or will his son need to wait the standard 5 years?  Man, I can't wait for this process to be finished!!!

My attachments will look like that:
You permanent Resident Card
Your marriage certificate
Tax documents for past 3 years( printed and scanned transcripts from IRS account, since when I downloaded it directly from IRS account site, they are encrypted PDF, and won’t attach)
Evidence of the end of  current spouse’s prior marriage
Birth certificates of any stepchildren from the current spouse’s prior marriage.
2 pictures (? - not sure, it doesn’t require to upload passport photos)
1-Year extension letter - will include it as additional document.

If you go through the checklist for N400 , it does not require you to provide Bank statements or any documents related to Property or stuff like that. I feel like we provided that documentation , when filing for Green card, but it is not included for N400 Requirements.
Also I feel like online form - is simple, just attach the minimum that the system asks you for.  But for the actual interview, especially Combined, I will probably bring all that kind of stuff. And 2 passport pictures, to be on a safe side.
