Good Day all. I will be eligible for early N-400 filing in next 4 days, should I just file it or wait until the 10 yr GC comes in hand? My current extension expires 7/27/18 under ROC application.

Hi everyone! As for my case - I am planning to file for N400 in approximately 2 weeks! I already created an online draft as I am planning to file online and it is not difficult. By reading through different threads I came to the following conclusions: 1) It is better to file online for N400 as the case is received and processed faster ; 2)judging by other people’s experience there will be a high chance of combined I751/N400 interview , which is ok with me 3) cases get transferred from CSC ( “escaping” from CSC is the best part , that starts to speed everything up!) and things start to move! 4) The  times for N400 are not displayed very accurately in my opinion.  Right now without filing for N400 as a CSC filer I am realistically looking at November/December for I-751 😑 and then another half a year or year for N400. My estimation is that filing for N-400 will resolve everything much sooner, earlier then the end of the year with no 10-year GC, but Passport in your hand.

Yes, it would be good for traveling but if you get a notice for anything, I hope you don't miss it.

Just to add to this.  We filed N400 online at the end of March, 10 days later we got notice (written and online) that my wife's I-751 had been transferred from CSC to NBC (Lee's Summit, MO).  Yesterday she completed her Biometrics for N400 and case updated to Case in Review 5 min after we left the Federal building.

Ugh

Drove an  1 hour 40 minutes up to our local office for an infopass appointment to get a stamp in my husband's passport. There's a nationwide system shutdown! How frustrating! Our officer told us we could wait until after the lunch hour and check back in and they would let us try first stamp if the computers are back up.

My husband is with CSC. Had a nice conversation with the officer at the window just to make it so our trip wasn't a bust. We asked about the processing times and he said unfortunately CSC is slow. VSC doesn't have as much work and that's why they are moving much more quickly.

We discussed with him about the case File transferred to local office situations. He also confirmed that each time a file is touched, it has to be scanned in or hand injured in by the officer that touched it, looked at it, or even passed it on to another officer. It doesn't mean that it's been transferred to the local office. Impression I got from him that it wasn't a big deal.

I discussed if it's a good idea to apply for N100 before receiving ROC. He gave a strong indication that it was a very good idea to do so. Specifically for our office, Portland, Oregon, it'll move much faster ( currently facing turnaround time about 6 months). Looks like we're going to get hot on that!

Hope nobody else got stuck the infopass system-wide computer shut down!

Ha!  N400! My brain is frazzled :P. This is really big city,  horrible traffic compared to where we live lol.

It's only 1155am here in Oregon, we have an hour longer before we can go back.

Well that would be the case if it was sent to the Cincinnati local office.  However it was sent to NBC Lee's Summit Missouri 😀

Local offices have limited functions...

So the system is still down. headed back home to wait for tonight to make another infopass. Apparently if you have an appointment the same day you have to wait until the next day to make an appointment otherwise it tells you to change your current appointment. And then it won't even let you change your current appointment!

Overheard the officer tell somebody that the reason for the crash is because they allowed 22 field offices access to certain aspect of the program. I guess the it guys for USCIS better hop to fixing it all LOL

The only thing that took the pain out of the sting was the officer told us to ask for him specifically when my husband arrives for his next appointment (super nice guy). I won't be going up next time, officer said not necessary. Not having to miss more work will keep my supervisors from breathing down my neck.

It looks like the latest news for USCIS says , that you have to be present , when your Greencard is delivered, give your signature and present ID. At the website they recommend to track the delivery with USPS Informed Delivery option.

that is good for a lot of people but for someone like me.. we send all our mail to my in-law's house because there were times that our mail got lost if sent to our apartment.. do you think it's the same when usps misses the delivery/person? That they leave a note and you can pick it up? I would definitely use the tracking.. I'm just worried since some filers received their greencard without even seeing an update on their status online.

If you go Uscis website, in section News , and find the latest News regards that ( see the link that I posted) —> it says that you have an option to designate an agent to sign on their behalf, if you complete the Postal Service form.  https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-begin-using-more-secure-mail-delivery-service
