I know there are a lot of other answers on here, but we just got back from Mexico and my husband had no problems.  If you have a passport from a country that doesn't require a visa to get into Mexico, you won't even have to show your green card or extension letter in Mexico.

 

When we arrived, we used just his UK passport, and leaving, did the same.  The only time we got out his green card and extension letter was going through immigration when we got back to the states.  And then he was just annoyed because he couldn't use the automated kiosks and had to actually speak to an officer since his green card was expired, so it wouldn't scan correctly.  :) 

 

Your only challenge would be if your flight is delayed for some reason and you arrive back in the states after the letter has expired.  That might cause a problem getting back in, but definitely nothing should be a problem in Mexico.

3/9/15 - Called NVC and they have checklisted us for an "incorrect" decree absolute from the UK, even though it is the legal official document. Have requested a supervisor review.

4/28/15 - Called and NVC said supervisor had reviewed and now claimed that the decree absolute was not included. After disagreeing with the less than helpful lady on the phone, and her not being able to get the review time right. (She kept changing her story between 42 days and 30 days).

4/30/15 - Sent the same copy of the decree absolute to the NVC from the UK, highlighting the "decree absolute" wording with a letter stating that this is the only document provided by the UK government.

5/6/15 - Scan date for checklist received.

6/5/15 - Case complete!!!

6/12/15 - Called and interview is scheduled for July 1!

6/14/15 - Received email with interview date and instructions.

6/19/15 - Case showing as ready on CEAC.

7/1/15 - Approved at interview!!!

7/6/15 - CEAC changed to Administrative Processing

7/7/15 - CEAC changed to Issued!!!!!

7/10/15 - Passport and packet delivered!

7/29/15 - Husband entered with visa at Dallas/Fort Worth airport

9/29/15 - GC delivered!!!

Well, our case got transferred to local office as well on Feb. 26th. Is this now bad or good? Looks like interview is coming up? I always thought that local offices does not handle that kind of applications...

On the other thread someone said that they called USCIS and were told that because of the backlog, cases were being sent out to the local offices, so it might not mean an interview, just a faster time.  Although, even if it is an interview, at least it will be sooner than waiting another 9 months for an answer.  :)

I just received the same transfer on my case, I have been checking the other thread of people posting office transfers experiences and there are several cases where they got approvals just two days after the case being transferred to local office and no interview needed. Hoping that would be our cases too!! Good luck everyone :)

Actually my friend sent me a message because her husband´s case was transferred. Then I checked my status an hour ago. I´ve checked yesterday and it was still at CSC.

For the check I had to use the other WAC number....

Are you an early May filer? My case was received on the 26th so maybe I won't hear anything for another few weeks. Either way, this is so exciting!!!

Same here, I just checked the first number in our case & it was received at local office today (2/26).  We’ll see what entails but glad to see there’s an update!

Yes, we filed May 3rd 2017!

My receipt number from extension letter yesterday was not recognize, but when I checked this morning, it was saying my application i-751 was transferred to local office.

I guess VSC and CSC are overwhelmed with many applications that's why they moved the application to the local office, which i believed will also affect and it will slow down the process of N-400.

My receipt number from extension letter yesterday was not recognize, but when I checked this morning, it was saying my application i-751 was transferred to local office.

I guess VSC and CSC are overwhelmed with many applications that's why they moved the application to the local office, which i believed will also affect and it will slow down the process of N-400.

Yikes! However we will be eligible around next May. Hopefully by then USCIS offices are less busy.

They should do a public announcement on their website so that applicants are not guessing what's the reason of transfers

Though we already know to speed up the process, but just to be more official they should post something on their website.

02/28/19: In Line for Interview

03/01/19: Interview Date is on 04/08/19

04/08/19: Interview Day: Approved on the spot

04/09/19: We Scheduled your Oath Ceremony 

04/12/19: Oath Letter arrived in the mail

05/02/19: Oath Ceremony - OFFICIALLY U.S. CITIZEN AND END OF IMMIGRATION JOURNEY!

 

DS-11 - APPLICATION FOR US PASSPORT BOOK AND CARD

05/02/19: Submitted application thru USPS - Expedited
05/06/19: Received email, passport application is now traceable online thru Travel.State.gov website (https://passportstatus.state.gov/Search)

05/08/19: Received email, passport has been printed and it's on final processing
05/09/19: Received email, passport application has been finished processing with USPS tracking number and expected delivery is on 05/14/2019

05/10/19: Receive email from USPS informed Delivery - Expected Passport delivery is on 05/11/2019

05/11/19: Passport book received thru USPS Priority Mail

05/13/19: Passport card received

05/14/19: Naturalization Certificate back - END OF PASSPORT APPLICATION!
