Hi all,

I have a quick question regrading case status. I got my NOA with receipt number on MAY 2017.

Since then I couldn't verify my case status.  Its always says invalid error. Am i verifying it in wrong way?

Did anyone face this kind of issue before?

Please help

Thanks

When we get our receipt letter, there are two case numbers. Only one of them can be used to check our status on the website. Honestly, I don't know what the other one is for. So, see if there is another case # in your receipt letter.

The one that you need to use is the application number that has CRI-89 on your biometrics appointment letter.

My husband and  I called and check the status with one of the live reps @the USCIS  he states the app is still pending due to they are still processing apps from 8/2016.  We asked if the time get close to the year extension what we will have to do, he stated to go to web site 90 days before and it should gives us directions as to what to do.  I will look in to it before that to be prepared.

We called today and they said it's normal to still be pending as the average (based on so many officers working on different cases) is that they're tackling cases filed in August 2016- she told me that it's not, as I thought,  a case of their only opening a box containing the August files and ignoring everyone who filed later. This makes it frustrating when people who filed later are approved sooner, but it's just the way it goes.

The processing times page gives historical averages which have increased by about 40 each year - i think we can expect some movement by the end of February (282 days from receipt) or definitely June (389 days - the YTD average)

Hi everyone,

its been more then 6 months :/ is there a wait time limit after which we can officially start complaining about their processing speed? =)

I have a bit of a situation here. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Heres the breakdown

Received my NOA on 5/01/17

Biometrics completed on 06/07/17

I have GC 1 year extension letter till 5/12/18

I recently received a letter from RMV stating that I won't be able to renew my license because of a mismatched information with Social Security Administration. I realized that I never changed my last name on my SSN ( my husband always did taxes for both of us, I didn't even thought of it) So I went to SS Office but they couldn't process the change of my last name because their system apparently doesn't recognize my extension letter and just showing that my DC is just expired. the clerk lady told me that they won't be able to process any changes till I get my permanent green card ... ;/ Its 1 month till my birthday and basically till my license will expire.

Anybody had a similar situation? or know of any documents I can show to RMV to make them renew my license.. is "being in a process " counts as a valid excuse to drive with expired license?

I have a countdown on my phone's home screen, showing time until my educated guesses at when our case may be updated - and the USCIS app in the Play Store updates every day, telling me that a similar case updated, usually twice per day - so, there is some movement, but it just appears incredibly slow.

@Nat26, take a look at this PDF. It may help, failing that, go ahead and schedule an infopass appointment online to get a stamp in your unexpired passport from your country of origin; that'll extend you further and counts, I believe, as an i551 'form'. It's what I'm planning to do in May, 60 days before my extension runs out.

Note that due to the inverted commas in the official memo I attached, I don't think USCIS counts you as 'expired' or out of status until they make a decision, just because the date the extension letter talks about occurs without incident.

Scratch that. I just checked the processing times page, they're back working on July cases again. They went backwards. 😂

Back to the drawing board, I guess. My educated guess is now just a guess.

Thank you so much.

I downloaded the app too =)) so convenient , good call.

I've reached out to both SSA and RVM explaining my situation, we'll see if someone will get back to me. If won't hear anything, will go get that i551 stamp and try again ;/

Its just extra headache during this holliday season..

Hi everyone, I have a question that will need help:

I applied on May 30, 2017 and got an I-551 stamp with the expiration time on Aug 22, 2018. I have booked a trip to Japan in Sep 15, 2018 while Japan consulate requires applying visa 3months ahead(June 15th, 2018) and holding a US visa status longer than 1 year.

So

1) If I can get my GC in June 2018, I think I am fine with applying Japan visa;

2) If not, what should I do?

- Make an appointment with USCIS and ask for another stamp? Will they?

I am quite worried about the timeline doesn't work that at last my plane tickets will be a waste so appreciate your advice. Thank you ahead!

Hi! Hope you all hanging in there , I filled on the 22nd of May , as of now no updates and it’s been 201 days since changes on the uscis app, I noticed January fillers are already being approved without interviews in VSC , I hope we will hear from USCIS in about. ’ 2-3 months !

Happy holidays
