Dear Kind VJ Users -

In two weeks time my US fiancé and I will be entering the U.S. with my K-1 Visa. Our PoE will be Los Angeles.

I read the PoE review for LAX and would like to confirm few things here and hope to get some updated advice from other users who entered the US via LAX.

1. Can my USC fiancé and I be in the same line during at the immigration line?

2. Other than my passport and sealed envelope from the Embassy, what else should I prepare? Any other documents that the immigration officers might request??

3. Will I be given any form or stamp or any type of document upon completing my immigration check / interview at the LAX?? Or what I should NOT leave the PoE without?? I'm so worried that I will miss something and complicate whatever process that follows my entry to the US with my K1 visa.

Thank you for your kind advice in advance.

Best,

J/G

You can most likely be in the same line. Ask the person directing the queue where you should go. Have your passport with the visa and visa packet, that's all they'll request. They may also ask if you're US address has changed since you interviewed. You'll get a entry stamp endorsing the K1 visa. That's all.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

So they will not give me a I94 at the PoE?

No, the i94 is electronic now. You can download it from here after entry (might take a day or so to register): https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/

Noom and I went through LAX when we arrived in October. We were able to go through together. Use the visitors line, not US citizen/permanent resident line. As long as you have your passports and sealed embassy envelope you'll be fine. It is so easy...they won't let you mess up or miss anything. Don't worry!

Either way it won't take long. The lines are fairly long, but move quickly in LAX.... whether you both go in the same visitor line, or split up and meet again, you'll see each other on the other side!

I'll tell you with great certainty though that the visitor line is faster, unless you get a huge flight from Hong Kong or something come in directly ahead of you (which happened to me when I landed there once).

1. Yes you can. We came through JFK but LAX shouldn't be different. Use visitors line

2. That's all you need

3. Fingerprints. Make sure they don't forget that. We had to go back to airport because we couldn't get i-94

THANK YOU!! We're flying via Taipei and scheduled to arrive at 8pm on Sunday night. I don't mind the wait but I hope it will move quickly. THANK YOU!

1. Yes, both of you go through the visitors line. Me and my husband were questioned together, only got two questions each. We were never taken to another room for further questioning or anything, super smooth.

2. I only needed K-1 envelope, passport with visa inside and the note you get on the plane where you declare what you bring into the country.

3. Nah, you don't get anything at POE, so nothing extra to think about. Obviously you get the regular stamp in the passport though, but that's not specific for the K-1, you get that everytime you enter the US.

I'll bet you will spend more time taxiing on the plane waiting for a gate, then you will at immigration.  LAX has one of its runways shut down and over last couple of weeks it has been quite an experience flying in and out of there.  In any case once you get to the gate it's smooth sailing.  Good luck!

I have a follow-up question about my impending arrival and I hope you guys would be able to direct me to the right direction.

Neither my fiancé or my have an active US mobile number. We're thinking of using UBER or LYFT to get to our apartment. Can we rely on the WiFi connection at the arrival terminal? I'm talking about the meeting point after the immigration check. The last three times I was in LAX (2013-2014) I wasn't able to get any connection. Do you guys think that this is still the case now?

Should the WiFi connection is not reliable for us to access / get a ride with UBER / LYFT. What would be our best option to travel with our luggage? All of our friends are away so we don't have anyone to collect us from the airport.

Please advise.
