Hi guys. I picked up my passport with visa stamped today at the post office. it came with an envelope that says "do not open". so now we need to plan for the next steps. does anyone here know where i can find the discussion about what people did after they received their visa? like point of entry tips? moving tips? how to get ssn? etc?

any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Congratulations!

Try :  http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php?title=IR1_and_CR1_Immigrant_Visas

and for SSN try:  https://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/

In my opinion, POE don't matter, as long as you have all the needed document, they would welcome you to your new home.

Good luck. :)

Done!  Nothing yet - my case is slightly different - NVC doesn't have any update yet.

My status says NVC has sent email for interview.  This because my file was sent to embassy before interview scheduling (due to expedite) so the local embassy will email my date to me.  Its late here but based on the past (NIV) their emails only go out in the night.
