$600 later and my medical is complete.  Such a scam.  Just about everything except the x-ray could be done by my GP for free!  Oh well, what can you do?

Unfortunately, much of the process is highway robbery. Still worth it to live in America, but really unfair.

This is what I find confusing. Can we have our GP complete everything, then bring those results to the "medical exam"?

It has to be an embassy "approved" physician and/or facility.

I'm pretty sure that would open a can of worms for people using unreliable doctors and potentially having someone else do the tests for them if they didn't want something to show up.  There is a list on each countries pre-interview checklist who you can use.  It has to be them, they have all the necessary paperwork and can send the results directly to the Consulate.  I chose to collect mine, didn't want to take the chance of it going missing.

Thank you. :)

It's been a while since i've looked into this.. But I did some search again after posting.... Says in France that we can get all of our vaccines up to date before the exam.. But the X-ray and blood tests need to be done by the "embassy "approved" physician and/or facility" Can go the Medical Exam the day before interview, and everything will be ready..

That sounds about right.  I didn't have any vaccination records so did a blood test for MMR and Varicella by my GP and took the results. I was missing immunity to one, so my GP gave me that.   My work has someone who comes in and does flu shots so had one of those done recently.   Also required tetanus, which I had done at the medical.  After almost 15 years of no vaccinations my poor body:(

Ahmed picked up his medical today. They gave him a personal copy of his vaccinations for him to keep for the future. He asked the physician about his results and she told him everything came out good.

So now we just wait until June-15. B-)

Had interview today at Mumbai Consulate and both me and my daughter got the CR1/CR2 visa approval. Its such a relief. The interview lasted hardly five minutes but the wait was long - 2.5 hours after the documents were verified. Apparently people opting for local language as the language for interview are interviewed before those opting to be interview in English. I was asked about 4-5 questions while the consulate officer typed vigorously on her computer. My husband accompanied us to the consulate and the officer asked him to come and stand with us.  I wasn't asked to show any photos or any other document. The questions I was asked are:

1. How did you meet your husband?

2. When did you decide to get married?

3. How did the proposal happen?

4.What does he do for living in USA?

5. Are you working?

6. Does your husband's parents live in USA or in India?

I noticed that all other marriage based visa applicants came alone for the interview and were asked too many questions, photo proofs, documents etc. I feel that since my husband accompanied me to the interview, I was spared the hassle.

I carried a truck load of relationship evidence and I am glad I did not have to use any.

Good luck to every one out there waiting to be interviewed and united with their respective families. Visajourney has been a great resource to understand the entire process and to know beforehand about what to expect at various stages between filing the petition and interview.
