Biometrics appointment

Hi all,

My wife is about to have her biometrics appointment soon for her I-751 petition, do I (US citizen spouse) need to be there with her at her appointment? The reason i'm asking is because it is difficult to take time off work. Also, do you know how long the appointment generally lasts and what type of work is done?

If your local ASC is anything like mine was, then you might not even be able to wait with your wife anyway. My husband had to wait in the adjoining lobby.

There's no need for you to be with your wife as long as she understands the English language well and can count in English (you are given a number and told to wait until your number is called)

When I went to my biometrics appointment, they took fingerprints of all 10 fingers, a photo with a digital camera and I had to sign my name on a plastic sheet for a computer screen. I had a bit of a wait at my appointment, it took about an hour and a half if I remember correctly. But it varies, some people are in and out in 10 minutes!

I went to the local USCIS office and it took about 30 minutes total. They took my fingerprints, photo and signature. My USC husband did not attend the biometrics with me.

Nope, you don't have to be there. Tell your wife not to forget to bring the Appointment Letter, her ID and it might not be a bad idea to bring her green card too although they didn't ask for mine when I went for my biometrics appointment last Saturday. My appointment was supposed to be at 2pm but I arrived early at 1.35pm and was immediately attended to. I was out of the centre within 20 minutes... it wasn't even 2pm yet. Overall, it went really well.
