Hi everyone,

I planned a trip to Europe at the end of August, but I didn't realize that my i-757 NOA expires in 06/30 and I haven't heard anything from the USCIS after my biometrics appointment. The website says that "they received my application" and nothing else. I'm afraid that my NOA will not only expired but that I will not receive my 10-year green card in time for my trip. I know that there is a i-551 stamp that I could get through an infopass appointment, but I'm concerned that they will ask for the reason of my trip, which is strictly leisure, and will not grant me the stamp. Am I stressing needlessly? Has anybody gotten a i-551 stamp? If so, how was the process? What should I bring to my infopass appointment?

Thanks in advance!

hi

the stamp is not only about the trip, it's about maintaining your LPR status, meaning having proof that you are a LPR pending the arrival of the 10 year GC

just like the first time, before the extension expires, if you haven't gotten your GC, I'd say to make an infopass now so they can extend the extension for another year, pending your process

Some have reported that the ASC will not give you a new I-551 stamp until you are about one month away from the green card extension expiration (3 years after you entered the US).  But if you are worried, then take a copy of your airline itinerary to your InfoPass appointment.  My local ASC will only schedule two weeks in advance.

The reason for your overseas trip does not matter.

Good luck!
