Hi,

I have my medical scheduled for 9th May, so was wondering when I should schedule my embassy appointment? I don't want to do it now incase it comes through too soon to the 9th May date (would want to leave it at least a week in between so the medical results have enough time to be sent and received), however time is limited as it is only 2 and a half months until I plan to make the move to the States and also don't want to leave it too late. Can anyone tell me how long it normally takes for you to get an appointment date? Thank you

Go to the website and try to get something like 10 days after medical. If you are leaving in 2 1/2 months you have plenty of time. It takes about 4-7 days to get your passport back in the mail after the interview.

There is no reason to do it "too early" though, other than giving it enough time for the medical information to be sent over. Once you get your passport you can wait several weeks before moving. My wife had her visa in hand for about 3 weeks before travelling since she had some obligations up until the day before she left.
