So my fiance was not able to get his vaccines in the UK. We tried and it just didn't work out. Anybody else wait till they got to the US and how did you go about it all? The cost worries me because he won't have insurance rigbt away.

As a whole you can get insurance shortly after marriage, but since you aren't asking about that specifically there are two ways you could go about it:

 

Go to a pharmacy, walmart, or other type of clinic and obtain the vaccinations there. They will likely be much cheaper. Or you can go through the civil surgeon process in full. That means obtaining them from the civil surgeon and paying whatever they decide to charge to vaccinate and then recertify everything on the I-693 instead of just bringing them proof of vaccinations and having them recertify the form for cheaper. At walgreens for instance you can get MMR at about $99 per dose and Td at $54. You're out of flu season and chickenpox is waived if you've had it.

I had to get both a Tdap and an MMR booster jab before I went to the Civil Surgeon as I knew it was going to cost me a lot more than doing my homework and getting them elsewhere. I googled for a public health clinic (or free clinic) and found the closest one to me. Think I paid $30 total for the two shots, or it may even have been $15. Either way, much cheaper than I was expecting and much more agreeable than the CS was going to charge me. Have a look and see where your local free clinic/public health clinic is.

Okay thank you. I was confused and thought he was only able to get the vaccines through the civil surgeon. Also, who is the civil surgeon you all speak of?

I know that you have to provide medical when you adjust status, but I'm not sure what the process is for K-1. Did your finance have a medical as part of his K-1? I had to prove I had particular shots to pass the 'bar' for becoming a resident when going through AOS. A civil surgeon is someone qualified to write up a packet for USCIS purposes that you attach along with your petition.

Also, even if he did have his medical done while going through K-1 (which I think is a requirement), he'll have to have a form that he's up to date on his vaccinations, requiring a civil surgeon. There will be plenty near you, you'll just have to google them.
