Hey, saw you in the November group. Didn't realize that you were also in the DMV area. Glad to see some recent applicants from DC here!

Hi @Valor! Yes I am. Glad to see you here too! There's a spreadsheet in this thread too just in case you haven't seen it yet. 😊 My Biometrics is in two weeks, was thinking of doing a walk in since my OB appt is like half an hour before my schedule.

Is your biometrics appointment in Alexandria? When I tried to do a walk in for my ROC biometrics appointment couple months ago, I was rejected and asked to reschedule a new one. I was suppose to be traveling abroad during my original appointment but I ended up changing my return flights.

Hi, I'm joining the group 😊! I have just filed my N-400 application online on November 21st through 3 years of marriage though I was already eligible last year. Due to the fee increase that might take into effect on December 2nd, I had to file it right away. I got an NOA the next day, got the 2nd letter re: Biometrics yesterday where I am scheduled on December 11th. My estimated completion date as per uscis.gov website is on July 2020.

How's everyone else's case so far?

I wish everyone the best of luck!

Sorry the edit option can no longer be found on my post.

Yes, my Biometrics is again in Alexandria office this time. Oh, really? Was planning to come in prolly in the morning on that day. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully my husband can take a day off or if not, have his day off switched so he can accompany me. Was surprised that they were that strict as oppose to those who have successfully walked in for biometrics elsewhere.

You can always try. I did it first thing in the morning and even went back in the afternoon with proof of all my flight tickets but was still asked to reschedule. Are you the applicant? If so, your husband doesn't have to be there with you.

Yes, I am the applicant. My husband was also with me when I had my previous biometrics schedule. Since I am on my third trimester and we have a toddler who will definitely ask for Mommy, they will most probably be with me again just like when I had my ROC biometrics last December of 2017.

By the way, I am so sorry to hear that. Never thought that they could be that strict if you try to walk in given a valid reason. 😥 But on the other hand, I am glad that everything went well afterwards and here you are, just waiting for your n-400 interview. Good luck again @Valor 😊. God bless.

Ah I see. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Yes, I'm glad that my ROC was approved shortly after the biometrics so I didn't have to file N400 while waiting on the ROC approval. Good luck on your appointment and don't forget to bring your green card with you, they specifically ask to see GC if you are applying for naturalization.

Thank you so much! Yeah, no worries I always have my GC inside my wallet, appreciate the reminder though 😊. I am glad that I got the chance to be scheduled for Biometrics before I give 🤰birth and with that being said, I think I should be fine.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to recount my naturalization experience to give y'all insights in hopes of providing useful information.

Just some background. My N400 was received 2/21/19, had my interview was on 9/23/19, got approval via email on 9/25/19, on 10/15/19 I got an email notifying me that my ceremony had been scheduled and after a few days I got the date: 11/12/19.

My ceremony was scheduled at the DC Court House at 8am. I got there at 745am and was worried that I was not gonna make the 8am mark because I had to go through security. I passed through security a few minutes before the 8am mark and made my way up to the floor where the ceremony was to take place. The doors were still closed to the actual courtroom and they were not opened until about 815am. We were told to form two lines where we would show our ceremony notice and we were given the numbered seat we would be in during the ceremony. I believe there were about 150 spots and all folks naturalizing would sit in the middle section while friends and family could sit in the left and right sections. If you plan on having guest I suggest they get there early if they want to get a good spot.

As we took our numbered places we were instructed by row to form another line and turn in our completed notice/questionnaire to USICS officer. This is also the part that you turn in your green card and you're given a packet that contains a bunch of information for new citizens  (what to do after you naturalize, passport application, voter registration form etc.). After that we took our seats once again and were instructed on what was to happen next (presiding judge was to come out, then there would be speakers, take the oath etc.). Even though the ceremony notice said 8am, the actual ceremony itself did not start until 10am.

At 10am the presiding judge came out and at this point no photography or videos were allowed. There was a color guard presentation. The star spangled banner was sung and then the pledge of allegiance was recited. Each participants name was called out and their country of birth as well which indicated us to stand an remain standing. Right at 1030am I was officially sworn in as a US citizen. Once that happened were called up by rows and at this point is where you are given the actual naturalization certificate. The League of Woman Voters was there collecting filled out voter registration forms and they along with the Court hosted a small receptions for participants and family and friends.

I could not stay long since I had an international trip the day after so I immediately headed to the DC passport agency and got a same day passport.

Happy to answer any questions. And best of luck to you all!

Congratulations. Just one questions on accuracy of estimated completion time. Mine has gone from 3/2020 to 7/2020 , I filed in July 2019

Can you possibly explain the process or send the links to do the below as I was unaware you could get a same day passport when it was your first passport? Thanks
