Had my oath on Friday at the US District Court in DC. Wishing you all the best on your naturalization journey. This forum has been very helpful throughout my very stressful 9+ process. Happy to answer any questions from DC applicants. :)

Congrats! How long did the ceremony take from start to finish? Mine's coming up in a few.

Thank you and congratulations to you, too!

The time listed on the notice was 8:00 am but I called the court, and they said that’s to allow time for check in, but the ceremony will start at 10 a.m.

I was one of 120 applicants. We were each assigned a seat number beforehand, 1 to 120. There were two immigration officers checking folks in. It took about 1.5 hours to do so. They went by order from number one to 120. I was towards the end.

Remember to bring any and all cards/travel documents issued by USCIS! I didn’t bring a work authorization card I was issued years ago, and they said I should mail it in.

After everyone was checked in, the ceremony commenced and took about 1.5 hours. There was a reception afterwards where you get the chance to greet the judge and take a photo.

I recommend getting to the court early. The security check lines can get loooong and it is really hot and there is barely any air conditioning.

Note that photography is allowed but only before and after the ceremony. Not while the judge is on the bench.

It was one of the most memorable days in my life. Savor each moment!

120 people. Wow.

So the entire morning then. Ugh. Thanks for the heads up, though! Sounds like it was a great day...

Did you receive a decision at your interview? How long after the interview were you scheduled for your oath ceremony?

Thank you!

No, I was given a “decision cannot be made.” At the interview which was on 05/07. I received a notification that my case was approved on 05/22 and the oath was scheduled almost two months later on 07/17.

Click the link in my previous comment. You'll see the privacy authorization form. It allows the rep speak to USCIS about your case on your behalf.

My case was slightly different. I had to interview two times. The first time, the officer ended the interview early insisting he wanted my long-delayed I-751 adjudicated, and the very next day I contacted the rep for help. Took about 3 weeks from to hear back, then another 2 weeks for USCIS to make a decision on the I-751.

Hello ,

I did contact with the congress member and after 3 weeks she respond said that (  I have already contacted the USCIS in your behalf about your case. It was referred to two separate USCIS agencies.  As soon as I receive a response to my inquiry I will be back in touch with you.) what does that means referred to tow separate agencies? Does any one know or experience something similar. it's really getting so frustrating when I see people applied way after me became citizen already and my case taking sooo long without any reason.

Hard to say. You have a pending N-400, right? It could be VSC (for the I-751) and DC Field Office (for the N-400). When I contacted the Congress rep, both offices responded separately.

Yes, I have both I-751 and N-400 pending. You might be right, but why they need to send I-751 to VSC while it was already at local office when I had the interview. It's really frustrating. Thanks for your response though. I requested to talk with tier 2 hopefully someone will give me any useful respond.

No, it's likely that VSC still has jurisdiction over your I-751 (as happened to me during the N-400 interview). If you get to speak with a Tier 2 officer, ask them which office has jurisdiction.

My turn!!!! I just saw on the egov website that my interview was scheduled (no date yet). The egov website picked it up before my online account which still doesnt reflect it. @Jamie and Amparo did you get the interview date?
