Thank you so much!

No I didn’t request to change my name and was told it may take 2-4 months for the Oath to be scheduled. I was interviewed on Dec 12 and will be taking Oath on Feb 13, so it’s exactly 2 months.

guess what my interview officer told me. i told him the internet says name change will delay the Oath and he said it is a total non sense and even made fun of me. because of that i decided to change my last name. ehhhhhhhh

I drop my ex husband last name. Name I carried for so many years and reflect my children last name. Yet found it  akward but still was not judicial but administrative. Took my Oath last week at Fairfax high School versus the Eastern Alexandria court

Just out of curiosity. Which country are you from.

You got married during the process and your native country can be the old up. Guessing but don't want to speculate.

my wife is oversea and not US Citizen.  So my application shouldn’t be related to her. Plus my bro was already married to same country and his wife is oversea. We traveled together after applying. His interview was after 1 month after min. Even though we applied same day. His oath is next week.

Thanks!

Not trying to be cocky. You said your brother was already married prior.

You were not. Big difference between the two

Are you from Pakistan?

No worries at all

I’m getting my citizenship by 5 yr rule & it has nothing to do with being married or not.

thanks

You will get there! Remember to turn off the unsubscribed button afterwards. Got a message last week saying still reviewing your case. Annoying but still in their mind.?

They need to improve their visual communication skills.

Please let us know about your experience. And will be cheering for you.

I will definitely share my experience with the fellows.

Thank you ❤️

I honestly don’t think changing your name would affect the length of waiting. Logically it doesn’t make any sense to me.

Well, but it’s USCIS and no one knows what actually happens on the other side.

Seriously, my only advice is just to sit back and forget about them. What will come will come haha

You’re lucky your Oath was scheduled in Fairfax HS. Mine is in Manassas, 31 miles from where I live lol

Fairfax was indeed close by but the magnitude of people was overhelming even for USCIS staff.

Maybe Manassas was chosen as to not too many folks. (Then again don't know how USCIS operate on that). still Manassas is not that far if you take 66 and exit 47A or B depending which address you are going to .

Very best wishes.

Hi DMV-ers,

My husband became an American citizen last fall and we've recently held his "America!" party. Friends and family had collected lots of red-white-blue and obnoxiously patriotic decorations to celebrate. We're now left with it, and want to offer it to another soon-to-be new American. Since Visa Journey was so helpful to me, I thought I'd post here.

Let me know if you'd like the lot-- includes a lot of party decorations picked up at after-4th of July sales. I'd meet you in a public place and hand it off. It fits in ~two Trader Joe's bags.

Cheers!
