happy birthday to you!

try to stay positive as this will be your last birthday without your fiance <3

as hard as it sounds, as sweet it can be at the same time.

soon soon soon! maybe even a birthday gift later today or later this week.

stay positive

thank you for the bday wishes.

it's very hard to stay positive when the uncle who was supposed to walk me down the aisle was diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 cancer, and now very likely won't live to see our wedding. it's hard when my grandma and papa both got diagnosed with dementia and are in assisted living, and probably won't even remember my wedding. every day their memories decline, and there's less and less chance they'll even be able to leave the assisted living long enough to attend any kind of ceremony. it sucks. I don't have parents in my life. my fiancé and my grandparents and my aunt and uncle are all I have, and they're all being taken away or kept away from me.

my relationship is fortunately very strong, and I/we will make it through this, but not without major emotional damage. my patience has run out.

if anyone knows how I can contact my congressman to look into this, I would appreciate any info.

I'm really sorry to hear this and I completely feel you when I see cases with RFE responses received long after ours get approved within days... It's very frustrating that they're leaving some cases behind. I know you guys constantly say it isn't like that but it really feels like they do leave us behind. Oh well...

There just really isn't a way to know anymore, but I do hope you get approved soon.

yours is even significantly before mine. I'm even mad on your behalf. certainly I have enough extra anger about it to go around.

I don't know about senator or congressman but maybe you could try the uscis Ombudsman.  I wouldn't count on any of them to do anything though. You could keep calling and pestering USCIS about your case.

They say the system will be updated on december 16th so if you're not approved by then you could file an inquiry.

Yeah, they received RFE response more than 2 weeks ago and they've approved many cases with RFE response received past the 20th of November (ours was rcvd on the 15th). Not only that but they asked for things we'd already provided with our petition.  I don't even know how to feel about this anymore, I'm mostly annoyed because there's not much to be done. Trust me, if it were all up to me, we would all have been approved. :D

Got this from the DHS website:

"The Ombudsman is committed to reviewing all incoming requests for case assistance within 30 days, and taking action to resolve 90 percent of case-related inquiries submitted to the office within 90 days of receipt.

If you waited 60 days past USCIS processing times and have tried the USCIS customer service options listed above but still need help resolving a problem with an application or petition, you can ask the Ombudsman’s Office for help."

so I have to wait until 60 days have passed since... whenever they decide to finally update their date to reflect that they're processing June? I know someone said they're going to change it on Dec 16th, but what's the source of that info?

they also want me to do everything I've already done, plus make an infopass appt at my local (1.25 hrs away, Charlotte, NC) USCIS office, before contacting the ombudsman, so I guess that's the next step.

thank you for that info, and the bday wishes.

by the way, I'm also "Liz M" (until I get married, then I'm Liz S) so every time I see your name on VJ I do a double take.

Posting this as well, for anyone who'd like to see the Ombudsman info firsthand:

They're processing June while processing May and April  How does that work, USCIS? Idk, at this point they can say anything they like about processing times and according to them 180 days will still be " within normal processing times". This process is such a disappointment...

They won't even confirm I'm outside of normal processing time. I've been trying to file an inquiry since day 181 and it's now 199. They won't transfer me to anyone else. I literally just sit there on the phone and have them repeat the saaame info to me, over and over, until I get tired of hearing it and am ready to hang up on them. They keep saying that bc the website says May 1, I'm within normal processing. I know they're approving June. The scans show that. It is not complicated to get background checks. Mine is completely clean, I work with children! And his is clean too. We both have all of our info in order. If we get an RFE, it's because they lost something. I just don't understand.

I'm sorry my negativity has brought yours out too, and I'm sorry it's taking so long for you too. I keep thinking, if I had gotten pregnant while he was here on our anniversary in April (which is the last time I saw him) I could have grown a whole dang HUMAN in the time they're taking.

I completely agree with you, I'm having a very depressing and hard day, and I'm sorry too don't want to bring any negativity in here but this is emotionally draining and also taking a big toll on my health..we got that inquiry through when they made that mistake with Sept on their website but as you can see it means nothing, wont speed up the case, we are waiting even longer. If I wasn't afraid of consequences I'd have a lot to say to them...and I'm sure I'd do better job there..it's ridiculous

Hey everyone. We filed May 30th and received our approval Nov. 29. From the visa journey member updates it looks like we'll get an interview date with the embassy within a month but our attorney said best case scenario is MARCH. I hope she's wrong. Our most accurate info has come from VJ so we pray this continues.

Good luck to everyone and congrats!!!

Oh really! Well that's a great name you have right there Liz :)  I feel for you and I hope that you're not letting this get you down. It's incredibly unfair, please keep us updated with your process and if you decide to get in touch with a senator, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

My clinical depression is getting me down. The immigration process is just making it worse 😂

At least I can joke about that part of it, eh?

If I wasn't already on antidepressants before this, I definitely would be now.

Scheduling the medical and interview in JA does not take long - they have available dates and times every day so that won't be your issue.

The issue is waiting to get your case# from NVC which can possibly be why your attorney said March because NVC is backlogged. Although, I don't think you will have to wait until then. Probably early Feb.
