Hello May filers. This is my first post. I wanted to share some information with the community regarding some stuff I have read in the forums.

I received my NOA1 on May 16th and immediately filed an expedite request (extreme financial hardship) the following day. Long story short, I will lose my job if I had to take off from work anytime after august 31 due to a critical year long project.  My expedite request has not been denied nor approved according to the USCIS people. given the long delay, I assume that my request will be denied and I have been looking for another job.

I later read somewhere that making expedite requests causes further delays because denied expedite requests cause the whole 129f petition to go back to the start of the queue. I called USCIS and was connected to a Tier 2 officer, who informed me that all applications go by the notice date. I am not sure if I should take this bit of information with a grain of salt or not.

I hope that this prolong the NOA2 wait any further. As of now, VJ timelines puts us at around September 15th.  Has anyone else heard or know anything about the effect expedite requests may have on a 129f petition?

Kam

Hello Kamy010,

My fiancé and I submitted an expedite request in May (NOA1 May 11) and it finally got approved!! When did you submitt your request? If I have one advice to give you, don't give up and keep asking for updates. We had to call so many times to make sure they received everything and it happened more than once that they gave us wrong information. Anyway, if you have any question don't hesitate to ask me! I know how stressful and frustrating it is.

Fingers crossed for you!!

Heyyy welcome! We're visiting Dani's (the USC) father in Germany and will be here for a couple months, so we won't be checking this forum that often now. I just read like 10 pages! anyway all the best for you too, I'm sure everything will go well if a little slow (last time I had checked the timeline predicted august, now it's predicting september and there's been all this talk of delayed processing... eh, it's frustrating but not surprising)

I'm Matias BTW :)

Hi Matias, nice reading you. I used to live in Germany, lived there 8 years (Frankfurt, Bonn, and München). Hope all goes well with you too and you enjoy the best time of the year in D
Keep in touch and regards to Dani! :)

Hello Nexiou,

I submitted my request on May 22 directly with USCIS and I got my congressional office involved. I received a denial on the petition I made directing to USCIS because of the congressional inquiry. the email stated that they denied my direct appeal because the congressional inquiry took precedence and that will be determinative. I didn't hear from my congressional office all of june and the first half of July despite my repeated emails and calls. When I finally go through to them, they said that they made an inquiry and that my expedite request was denied because "a record check indicates that the request was previously denied and no new evidence has been provided since." in short, they viewed the initial USCIS denial as a decision on the merits, when in facts it was only to allow the congressional people to make the determination.

I have since trie to make my congressional office aware, but they don't really respond or pay much attention. If I am luck to catch my congressional rep on the phone, he does not seem to pay much attention to what I say.

Given the sequence of events, I am not hopeful at the moment but I am encourage by your story. I just received an extension on my start date and I sent a PDF of the conversation as additional evidence. I hope they will be compelled to review my request and make a determination on the merits.

Thank you again

My nerves are getting bad. We haven't gotten anything since the Notice of Receipt. Anyone else feel like they're in limbo.

Yes, indeed... this process is not for the faint of heart, unfortunately.  I try to keep positive but it's not easy when things seem to be moving in slow motion, if at all.  All we can do is wait and know that life will be better "soon" and that soon is sooner or later... :))
