Is that pretty much what the 1st step is? Checking the "background" of the petitioner and the beneficiary??

Wow, you already called them and they gave you status? Awesome. I can't believe they have already completed background checks on June case; if so, I don't know why it takes more than 3 months to approve...

They asked to have their case expedited, and sure enough USCIS did that. Otherwise, too soon for background checks completed, I'd say.

asking to expedite is one thing, having a good reason for asking is another. Any idea of what grounds the case was expedited?

No idea, OP posted on April forum (and about everywhere) and said he requested for an expedite. Based on what USCIS told them and other people on our forum that has also asked for expedite, and based on his dates, I'm quite sure they had to expedite their case, but not certain, that's right.

Ask OP; I guess :)

Congrats on the new house! Definitely exciting times. I think a lot depends on your embassy. Has anyone tried reaching out to their embassy and ask how long they usually take before issuing the interview?

I think I'm lucky, since Iceland is a part of the visa waiver program the US Embassy here is mostly busy with immigration visas. I think they process them pretty quickly, not many people live here :P

Yep you are pretty lucky, my fiance is interviewing in Dakar, Senegal and I heard they have a 2 month wait 😪

If a case is not expedite then the USCIS will not tell us any partial updates such as "back ground check complete"

You can call all you want but the call site will not be able to give you any specific details about the progress of a case other than it was received.

Expedite cases are more transparent.

Oh I have no heard of such a thing. I called and they said no information is available except was is listed online. I have never heard of a partial update such as "background check complete" either.

Oh gosh... I'm leaving the States on Mondaj and have no idea how I'll handle the fact that I won't see my Fiancé's smile for few months. I'm laying in bed and that just hit me, in 3 days I'm leaving him without knowing when we'll be the next time. How do you handle that?

Skype or other video chat, pictures, daily text chats :) lots of them. We've been apart for a few months this time, but it's usually more like a year. You can do it!
