It is one of the hardest things that I've gone through... this waiting.  I keep telling myself that, if you can make it through this with your love intact, your relationship will come out stronger on the other side... it's a true test... I totally understand what you're both going through as it seems to be the case with most if not all of us here.  Keep the hope alive even when it seems like there will be no end... you will get there as we all will and, hopefully, very soon!  :)

Welcome.  We, also, have a May 3 receive date of the physical NOA1 but USCIS seems to be going by their receive date of May 1.  Waiting is hard, very frustrating, and depression is unavoidable... but, unfortunately, it's all we can do.  I can only say that it seems likely that we will all hear something very soon... hopefully this week.  Wishing you the best... :)

I think we will see some may filers coming in this week. I figure be about mid October for me.

There is nothing easy about it. Till someone does it there us no words to explain it. I tell my friends about it and they think i am joking. When you love someone you long to be with them. I hate the weekends i have to much spare time.

It is completely different than me. My fiance and I don't mind waiting at all. Sometimes when I miss him so much, yes, I did make a crazy wish, something like, "if you love me, I want you now" but, he know how to handle me well, he be like. Are you free now? We should have a video call. After the video call, I will be completely okay. He know that when I did something like that, I just want to see him. But, yeah. I agreed with you on the part waiting is the hardest part. What can I say, fill your time with something interesting. Something that can make you forget about waiting. Now, I'm in the middle making a our love story book using my sketch book. That make me forget about waiting for a while. Because now, in my mind, I more worry whether I can finish it before we are seeing each other (he will fly here to have the interview with me). Anyway, I wish good luck to both of you! It is hard but always remember that by the end of this waiting time, both of you will be together. 😃

DISCLAIMER: I'm not working with USCIS/NVC and never work with them. All my comment based on my own experience and what I read.

The wait will come to an end. I highly recommend to do something at home, focus on job, hobbies, etc. Try not to think about this visa stuff. When you're not expecting it, it will arrive. I am depressed at times too... Specially knowing that people that filed in March more or less are having their visas relatively quickly and we are not (our plan was to fill in March but we had some issues).

Just think and plan your life together! That makes me happy when I discuss that with my fiancé :)

The consensus seems to be that the recent USCIS slow down is due to the flood of DACA renewal applications. According to USCIS, the deadline is Oct 5th. if this is all true, then things could speed up after those applications are received.

The USCIS quarterly data release shows that there is an increase in I-821 (but a reduction in I-821D) applications received in Q3 of 2017. Its also not a huge increase (by about 10k applications), considering the overall number of applications they get per month (about 700k applications per month!), so I'm skeptical to say that DACA is the reason why things have slowed down.  (https://www.uscis.gov/tools/reports-studies/immigration-forms-data/data-set-all-uscis-application-and-petition-form-types)

nevertheless, I hope I am completely wrong and things will go right back to normal first thing tomorrow morning.

Hey everyone,

I've never posted before but have been a long term lurker since filing back in May and just have so much to get off my chest.

I finished school back in May and that's when we filed our I-129F. I had a job offer here in Canada that was going to pay me really well at a top tech company that would have started in mid-July, but I was expecting to be approved in August so didn't want to take it only to have to quit less than 2 months later and burn bridges with the company, so I turned down the offer. But now with these delays I'm seriously regretting not taking that offer. By the time we'll probably get approved now I could have made enough to buy my own car in full and then some (calculated about 30 - 40k+). But instead now, when I finally do move we're going to have to struggle until I get my work permit and can finally work.

I know there was no way for me to foresee the processing times nearly doubling but I just feel so damn dumb. And being unemployed, I just have way too much free time to worry and be depressed and feel useless and like I'm wasting my life waiting around for this approval when I could have been already building up my life. I don't like to discuss it with my fiance because I don't want him to feel like I resent him, and I don't. I'm just mostly mad at myself for only considering the ideal scenario. I should have taken the official USCIS processing times more seriously.
