Omg...I feel so stupid. I just went back to check my bank account again, and what do I see? THEY HAVE CASHED THE CHECK!!!!!!! Yaaaayyyy!!! This just made my Friday going into the holiday weekend even sweeter!! :D

Congrats! :D

I was about to tell you not to worry too much, since normally it takes a couple of days for the check to show as cashed out in the bank account, but yay, there it is!

For my own experience so far, I can tell you it's normal to stress at this first part of the process, until you are sure your petition is there and being processed. It certainly caused me some stress when USPS failed to deliver in time but took them a whole week instead  Then you go into some kind of lethargic mode for a while, because you know NOA2 is going to take a while. That's me right now :)

LOL....exactly!!

I've already prepared myself for the NOA2 wait game (meditation, breathing exercises, chanting...hahaha); but these last 4 days I've been sitting here overthinking and worrying myself because I'm like...it was delivered on Tuesday, what can possibly be taking so long just to say they got it. What's crazy is right before I sent the first message, I had just checked my account and as soon as I submitted it, I went to go check my account again and POOF...the money was debited from my account!!!

I told my fiancé this morning the great news and we're celebrating as we just got done with the interview....lmao!!!!

But I'm just glad that this part is done because I know I'll be getting my text/email shortly or the very least, the hardcopy should their systems not send out the text/email.

Good luck on waiting for the NOA2 and your journey!!!!

Hey everyone! After days of struggling with the paperwork (most of the struggling having been done by my wonderful Patrick) we finally assembled our happy envelope and sent it on its way to Dallas just yesterday! We are very excited to join this community and begin our countdown (ambitiously hoping here to go to my interview in Moscow by the beginning of September, haha).

Good luck on your Visa journeys, guys :)

Wowwww...now I'm getting worried because I sent mine in on the 22nd and they received it on the 23rd and I'm still waiting on them to cash my check and my email/text or hardcopy NOA1.

I mailed my I-129 F on May 17th via FedEx Ground.  The package was received on May 22nd.

My check was cashed today, May 26th, and I received my text message today as well.

No email yet, but I am taking this as official NOA1…now the wait is on for NOA2.

Best wishes to all other May filers!

Hi All! We submitted our application on May 12, 2017 and received our NOA1 on May 16th, 2017.  I am eagerly awaiting our NOA2!

In the meantime, I was thinking of getting my criminal background check in order.  I read on the local police website that it can take up to 4 weeks and I want to be prepared! Hope it's not too early to do so. I read somewhere that they are good for 6 months.

Anyway, good luck everyone!  Can't wait to follow along on your journeys!

I thought they do the background check themselves?

The US Embassy in Montreal requires that you bring one to your interview.  I read it's good for 6 months from the date it is issued, so I thought I should order one in the next month or so, since it can take up to 4 weeks at my local police department.

My fiance will be going to the embassy in London. How do I find out what he'll need to bring to it? I know there's some form he needs to fill out, and a birth certificate. But I haven't really gotten any info in what to do while we wait.

Well, I believe each embassy is different and you will find out what yours requires once your case is sent there.  In the meantime, here is a post from someone who was at the London embassy this month.  They listed the things they needed as:

----- Appointment confirmation email

----- Birth certificate (just the long form part - my one was A4 size, but they can be various dimensions)

----- Police certificate

----- Passport

----- Passport photo (1x)

----- Form I-134 (Affidavit of support)

----- My fiancee's employer letter

I'm not entirely sure what else.  You probably can use the advanced search on this site or google the US Embassy in London to find out more :)

Thank you! So is the police certificate the background check?

And why are they asking for a passp photo if the forms already have one, and there is also one in the actual passport? What is the employer letter? And last, the support form, is that for me to fill out basically starting that I will be supporting my fiance?

The police certificate is the background check I was referring to, yes.

I'm not sure why they are asking for the photos, but they want them again.  It might have something to do with the fact that the I-129F is just an application to see if you are legitimate, essentially like a pre-approval for a visa. And then when your fiance goes to the embassy they are actually applying for the K1 visa, which is a separate process, hence the pics.

I think an employer letter is just an official statement by your employer that states who you work for, for how long, and how much you make.  I've been reading that for employment verification it is usually like 3 pay stubs and 3 years or so of tax returns, but don't quote me on that!  Take a look at the Affidavit of Support online to find out more, but yes, that's on you to fill out since it's information about your finances.
