I was just on the phone with an USCIS tier 2 (btw Press 2 for spanish if you know spanish.. customer service is so much better):star:

I was asking about another application (J1 waiver), not my I-129f... But he said.. oh I see that you DO have an A-number assigned from your fiance application..

Is this a good sign that something is moving along?? I didnt have that number assigned on NOA1.. Is this a bit of hope? or that number gets assigned early in the process and doesn't mean they are working on MAY?!

Live, love, laugh.. and try not to think too much about USCIS

I just got an update from the Dallas Service center on an application filed on April 2nd... RFE....

Of course no one wants an RFE, however, I notice that once you send in what they ask for, the case is approved very quickly.....good luck, we are here for you :)

Appears as if you are doing K-3? For K-1 my understanding of A number is that it is assigned when you generate the DS-160 for CEAC.

If you have done DS-260 for CR-1 then that might be where your A number came from.

There are 3 sets of number

WAC from USCIS

XXX from NVC where the first 3 letters associate to the embassy for example MNL for Manila Philippines

then the 3rd number is the "A" number.

Thank you, but I already figured it out

just 2 different apps kidna 😃 Downloaded both of them

IMG_0817.PNG

There is actually a 3rd app one for ANDROID that does some functions that the one for IPHONE does not and vise versa.

It's just too bad USCIS isn't regularly updating case info.

I should say that's a good sign. A-number is what we call ALIEN NUMBER which is found on the NOA2 right above the beneficiary's name.

That info tho won't be useful anywhere during the K1 process, only during AOS. :)

I'm looking at a NOA 2 and it only has the WAC number on it.

I thought the A number or Alien number was assigned when doing a DS-160 well it starts out "AA XXXX"

As you say I guess it doesn't really matter if not needed until AOS

Oh My!! I hope you are right and it is some kind of good sign!!!:D

yeah.. they were trying to locate my waiver application by my a-number and I said I dont have one.. so when he looked me up in the system and saw the I-129f he said that I do have one assigned..

(I didn't dare to ask him anything about the fiance application:blush: he was doing such a good job helping me with the other.. I didn't wanna seem greedy)

Thank You for your answer.. I was starting to get seriously worried about May applications.... this is slightly calming..
