I'm trying to get information. My fiance lived in japan for 6 months. From my understanding, she needs a police records from japan. But the Japanese embassy in manila won't give her one until she has a request from the US embassy..we are trying to get everything we need for the interview later so we don't run into any surprises. But maybe I'm too early. I just got my NOA1 last week. My question is, how can I get that request from the US embassy now and not have to wait till after the interview..i hear it takes 2 months to recieve it after you apply at the Japanese embassy.

Not sure on how to go about this for you; but the embassy in Manila won't send anything to your fiance, so there is no "request", only thing really that will even show would be CEAC status showing "Ready for interview" but that's after NOA2 and NVC phase.

Have you actually tried to apply for the police certificate at the Japanese embassy in Manila? I remember when I applied for my Japanese police certificate that the Japanese embassy in London had the same requirement, but when I went to the embassy I just said I needed it for a US fiancé visa application and they were familiar enough with that requirement that I didn't need to provide any additional proof.

Your fiancée could call them to ask, or drop in if they have non-appointment hours.
